Like, really huge. Playing arenas and shit. 1 MILLION fans on Facebook

Not that I'm surprised or anything that they've gotten this huge (and in fact, I think its pretty cool)

Just thought I'd bring it up.

Yeah, it hit me recently when I got a ride with someone whom I considered to be of the non-music geek variety. She was playing Because of the Times. I was pleasantly surprised.

i feel like it's kinda happened under the radar a little, yeah. my realization was when the chick that does tuesday trivia played them like three times a night.

that, and when my friend that used to be a creative for arnold gave me a ton of cds that came his way unsolicited from labels for use in commercials. the last was in there amongst a million "indie" compilations.

A chick in my office says they are her favorite band, I asked her which album she likes the most and she's only heard "sex on fire" and a few other songs...

they played a benefit show here last year where tickets were $125 and it sold out. they also played a 4,000-capacity venue at, like, $45+ and that sold out very quickly too. and they're co-headlining lollapalooza this year, too. i have no idea where these fans are coming from.

never really listened to them. They don't offend or anything, but one of my friends told me that they were playing in Norfolk at the ODU Fieldhouse and I was surprised that they were playing in such a large venue.

I did just now, and had to delete my post.

...they're still around? If they've become huge, it's probably a-ok that I've not listened to anything since their first album.

Those who find KoL meh need to admit to themselves once and for all that they hate rock music. And America.

They played GM Place on their most recent tour here. That was a WTF moment for me - that's the big barn that mainstream doinks like Madonna and Britney and Aerosmith play - that's a looooong way up from a $12 ticket to see them open for Jet at Dick's on Dicks.

Good on 'em though. If they're alienating the holier-than-thou indie crowd they're obviously doing something right.

I like them. I just think it's really weird to add them to the shitty station I work at. Which has happened.

You sure do have lots of reasons for hating on artists that have nothing to do with their music

I say good for them, but I'd like to still be able to see them without paying over $50.

To each his own.

And Caleb Followill's mumbled vocals get on my ever last nerve.

There was a time, from pre-release of Aha Shake Heartbreak through the release of Because of the Times when I think I considered them my favorite band. I still like them a whole lot, and their first three albums are great. I think some of us made statements to the effect that this last album was their "push for the big time and arenas" when we heard some of the songs from it before its release. Apparently it worked, and I'm glad for them. The new album still does not even approach what they did on the first three, imo.

first 2 albums are great, and then they turned into a bunch of fags that care more about how their hair looks than writing rock n roll.

plus, they are boring live.

Because of the Times is one of the best Reg Rock albums of this decade. It's unbelievably good.

I DO think its funny that Sex on Fire is what "broke" the, but this is a really good band that has a long future.
