They were the Greatest Ever.
You know, back when you were young(er) and stuff.
They were in your Top 100 Ever, or maybe even Top 10

That is, until you heard other albums that knocked them off your list, or until, you got older, and outgrew them. Now they aren't even given a thought when you make your Music Geek lists.

Off-hand, the ones that occur to me:

Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking (my former #1, back in 1992 or so)
Jeff Beck - Blow By Blow (back when I was a high school guitar geek)

I'm sure that I'll think of more later, but this is for now.

Depends on how far back we go. I mean I had lots of Alan Parsons Project albums when I was 12.

Beastie Boys: Ill Communication
Fugazi: Red Medicine
Ice Cube: The Predator
Metallica: Master of Puppets

That's probably all of the pre-1996 stuff that were notable favorites of mine.

Less than Jake was insanely popular for a band that never gets mentioned anymore.

Yeah, I probably would've picked Electric Ladyland back my teens. Definitely don't give Hendrix much thought now.

Also:

The Doors - s/t or Strange Days
Black Crowes - Three Snakes and One Charm (no idea how I'd feel about this now, probably not good)

This has been my favorite album for about 12 years. I still consider it #1 but don't know if that's for nostalgia's sake or if it's really still my favorite.

...how did I forget that? Still way up there for me, in a way. I hear it and I am instantly 8 years old again. Man I could not listen to that album enough at the time.

Billion Dollar Babies is a great album (as is Nothing's Shocking). One of my favorites in my pre-teens was:

Faith No More - The Real Thing

Pretty much my soundtrack for my first stab at university in the early 90s. Now I find it okay, but not fantastic.
