Pretty sure you put cold girl fever by the national on an old mix, which got me into them.

I spend very little time randomly sampling new music, so most anything new-ish on my iPod is the result of one Ob or another

so, thanks Obner

There's more than that now, though. I'll thank on it.

I randomly sample new music for more than an hour every day.

But never would have given DBT the time they deserve if not for Obner. Probably GAR. So thanks Chewbacca Matlock.

I donno who made that country mix almost 2 years back, but it had Teddy Thompson on it, which I subsequently tracked down and bought, and that was among my favorite discs last year.

Also, Albion's XTC Mix still gets regular play, 4 years later.

And like everyone else, Rads gets credit for a lot of good shit, perhaps most notably that Silver Sun tenner. WHOO.

I actually found two old Poptodd threads about this topic. I'm an ungrateful bastard though and hadn't thanked anyone in either of them.

I know there were tons back in the CMJ days but my memory isn't good enough to remember who to thank for all those. From what I can recall:

Shamwow: Audience, Jazz Butcher...there were others but those are the standouts

Radcliffe: Rich Hope and His Evil Doers, Frankie Miller, Flophouse Jr, Thelonius Monster/Bob Forrest, Fabulous Poodles, Ike Reilly, Artful Dodger and many others. Probably the best thing he turned me on to though were those Country Got Soul compilations

FT: Deathray Davies, Will Johnson

Mojo: Chamber Strings

Caputo: Peter Bruntnell and of course Belleville

Loogar or Bloor (can't remember which): Chinga Chavin

Dumpjack: a bunch of stuff that I'll plead the fifth on

Tentoze: Hoyt Axton, David Olney, Taj Mahal and probably a few others I'm forgetting

Crack: MMJ, the Good Life

Stop Breathin: Knife in the Water

Same here, I never post mixes and rarely pimp a band. I find that I often discover a band on my own and then realize that a thread existed about the same band months beforehand.
