I jack stuff from everybody on this board. I've never DLed a mix that I didn't rock at least a few songs off of for a lengthy amount of time. It's seriously waaay too long a list for me to consider.

Remember when we used to make and send out mixes? I love that we can just post them now without thinking about much, but remember that part of the board? What ended that? Probably the ability to do what I just mentioned, but still. That was a great thing we had, CMJ.

It's kinda terrifying to think about how technology has changed even that stuff. Then again it's kinda terrifying that I've known some of you bastards for almost a decade.

I'm still mildly disappointed that kids these days can just download and swap the David Allan Coe dirty album. Back in my day, one racist fucknut down the hall in the dorm had a beat up old cassette passed down through all sorts of hands with dirty fingernails.

I checked out Jayhawks based on one song from an rparis mix I believe. Bought a few of their records since.

Dumpjack put up a Tragically Hip mix that was pretty good so when I stumbled upon a bunch of CDs of theirs in a bargain bin, I gaffled them up. I've been listening to them quite a bit.

FT made a mix a while back that had a lot of stuff I liked...Neko Case...Slender Means. I think that was also the first time I heard Ike Reilly too. I'm very much into those artists today so I guess you can say he's responsible for those.

Kind of a blur...but I think a no guru post about The Dirty South 4 or so years ago got me interested in DBT.

Discovered Hard Lessons thanks to Thee Chad.

Without a doubt. I still have all of those lying around, but I haven't thrown one on in a while. And yeah, the number of years that many of us have been representin' on here and CMJ is a little scary.

Can we start a thread where we blame obner for wasting our money on absolute crap?

This would be a fun idea. I say go for it - although I'm not sure if I can even remember who to blame for the Mink Lungs.

I can easily say FT has wasted more of my money than all other boarders combined. That's not to say he has the worst taste on the board (which could be another thread) but simply that it took me the longest to figure out that despite some overlap our tastes aren't that similar.

I've never went out and purchased an album on the advise of a fellow obnerian, so I couldn't make a true list.

Frostingspoon/No Guru and Dalen have made plenty of mixes or posted albums that I thought I might like, that were real misses, but I didn't waste much time downloading them and appreciate the gesture in getting those out to folks like me.

Time & money, allowing for the diminished purchasing of real product.

But good idea, as in this case (as opposed to a plain ol' 'Who's Got the Worst Taste' thread), there is an implicit amount of trust between the two persons as you're willing to accept the advice and possibly go and spend money on it. This type of honesty is always good.

You are correct, sir. That one album was OK, though.

Miceelf for Pete & the Pirates and The Replacements.

A bunch of boarders for Drive By Truckers.

Must be more but my memory is shot.

I'm giving you my eternal thanks for that one my friend.

Also, someone mentioned Radcliffe and The Redwalls, and I'm sure he found it independently, but i know i was a big proponent of them too. I just gave up trying to turn anyone onto anything. After 8 years of having any band thread I start sink like a stone, it's like, why bother?
