Give Chase credit. He made it to see Busty and I last night, (if only for 15 minutes), dispite a fiance, a snowstorm, and a slightly pushy/bipolar lawschool buddy. I wish he coulda stayed longer - seemed like a right nice fella. Shortest obner hookup in history?

Earlier in the evening, the much-touted "governmental" party we were asked to play turned out to be a fundraiser for the Governor, wherein he worked his way through the crowd shaking hands whilst we played, eventually winding up in front of us, and making a speech through our P.A.

Highlights:
- Busty hoisting the floor monitor up onto his shoulder for the whole speech so Gov. Doyle could better be heard... "ouch," he would later say.
- Seeing a governor speak into the same ol beat-up Shure SM58 mic that Busty, Yail and I have been warbling into for nigh on 10 years now.
- Asking the secret svc guy questions and watching him try to simultaneously scan everything everywhere AND be polite while he answered.
- Having to introduce ourselves to Chase's lady, since he (understandably) didn't know our actual names. She's a looker, btw, and handled the whole "meeting his internet buddies" thing like a champ... not one roll of the eyes. Well done, sir.

And then the whole thing wrapped up and nobody paid us. Whoops! I have the utmost confidence that if the good Senator had been in charge of this gig, we'da got paid UP-FRONT. Oh well.

Chase is one of the top Obnerites on my list who I'd love to meet. One day...one day...

it was a good time. i'd like ot have stayed for longer but we were pretty much booked solid. unfortunately for you guys the woman is taking a liking to UW, so we may be in for a longer stay in the future. we'll see.
