Well, social anthropologists and cyber archaeologists of the future will dig into CMJ and its later derivatives like Obner as a rich secondary source of data about life and art among the American privileged class at the turn of the millenium. The microwaveable nostalgia and entropy that bulletin boards produce....

Ah, it was a better life then (nostalgia). And I note that this is a really, really good list of songs, and it seems both more varied and different than the kind of music that gets discussed today on Obner (entropy).

I loved it, and remember hitting refresh to see what the next song was.

Looking at it this time I knew that:

13 : Popol Vuh - Letzte Tage - Letzte Naechte

was mine because of the typo that gets fossilized for the ages.

Judging by the links in your sig, you're almost definately him. Do you have an adorable kid who pronounces the Sox reliever as "Johnafin Papewbawn?"

I'm surprised that I had as much to do with this list as the thread indicates.

holy shit... this was a few months after I showed up.

while I had nothing to do with that list (probably due to my newness), it's more surprising to me to see how many of these posters are still at least occasionally around than those who have disappeared.

(haha MichelleKwan)

am I the only one that's surprised that Jenna has been lurking as long as she has?

The upside of all this for me is that I'm putting new names with old names in ways I never would/could have otherwise. Maybe I will dick around here with you guys more often.

I just re-read that old thread and see that I complained twice. Of course, I was much nicer back then so it barely reads as a complaint. I don't think that I'd actually heard them back then so perhaps it was buying a few modest mouse cds after the thread that made me mean.

Thinking back now, I can't believe we even attempted to complete that list, let alone, do it.

During a relatively lazy period, this list fueled my radio show for a few months.

Ha Ha...i remember thinking you had good taste back then too. I went and looked at the songs I was responsible and there were only two I cringed at which was better than I thought it would be given how much my taste as changed. Most of those songs/bands I still like. Hell, I even pulled out a solo John Squire album for a listen the other day and still enjoyed it. I just like early 70's stuff more now.

I was lurking at the CMJ board when I was a sophomore or junior in high school. I've been out of college for two years now. You guys must be entertaining or something.

Strange, not many "that song's shit, why did you post that" posts up in there. Entropy, indeed.
