Bump for thursday.

a friend gave me chelada (that budweiser + clam juice tomato thing) as some sort of ironic gift. at first i had a love hate for that stuff. it's evolved into a hate hate.

so i've had half one of those and some summits and some GEEWEEWEEEG

I've had that Chelada,a friend picked it up. Tasted like the salsa from Taco Bueno...
As far as tonight, drinking Native Amber,it's from a microbrewery from OKC.

The 2 big regionals Tentoze should be surrounded by in Dusseldorf are kolsch and alt, my 2 favorite german styles.

they don't like it too much in düsseldorf to order kölsch...
the other way round is even worse, I think. which means, to order altbier in köln. they are kind of sensitive with this issue down there.

People need something to get mad about, I guess. Either way, both are delicious.

I totally agree. especially kölsch is nice. I like the concept with these small glasses and that you get another one automatically in a bar until you cover your glass.

Hell yeah. I remember sitting by the Rhein at a little place and knocking back a bunch of those little glasses, and thinking how nice it was to be there. Nobody makes simple, clean beer that still tastes good like that here.

Man, altbier...good memories there, almost 2 years ago. I asked my favorite innkeeper about getting some altbier in, and he suggested it didn't travel well. Damn shame.

Yeah they boat it over, which takes a month, and it only has a 6 month shelf life to begin with if they're making it for the EU. Bitburger, where I used to work, had to make export (US primarily) beer separately to get a 12 month expiry, the only difference being that they filtered it down to a smaller micron size to get even more of the bacteria out, so it would take longer for what critters were left to get organized and take over the beer. They also had cheaper thin glass bottles for the US instead of the thick returnable EU stuff.

Having said that, I will swear to having bought Hannen Alt once or twice in Athens GA a million years ago. So somebody exports it, or used to.

I would love to be a guy like that someday. Move back to Madison or Milwaukee and open a top-shelf beer bar with Busty.

I would guess it's much easier to get these beers in amerika than in countries like france or spain.

Quoted for Truth.

So, we finally passed a bill in Bama, dubbed "Free the Hops" that allows "high gravity beers" to be sold. Had a few Saison Duponts at the one restaurant in town smart enough to drive to the distributor, instead of waiting on the lines to be plotted, etc.

That is some GOOOOOOOOD shit.

That's some good news. And I looove those Duponts.

Same as last week. I went to a weirdo/hippie free show at a park and then went for $1 tall boys. So I drank a PBR, an Old Milwaukee and an Old Style. Now I am having the last of my Milwaukee's Best, which was my reserve crap beer in my fridge.

The in-laws were here this weekend, so the fridge is full of lots of good shit. Mostly Harpoon UFO (good wheat beer), 1 straggler tallboy of pbr he left, some more of my beloved Long Trail Double Bag, and the remnants of a 12 pack sampler from Smuttynose.

Also I'm going to be drinking much more heavily wednesdays for awhile, it looks like, as the wife is addicted to So You Think You Can Dance and I cannot be in the room with it while sober.

The law firm I'm clerking with won a big deal for a Las Vegas casino. So the casino took us out, where I had a bloody mary & 2 miller lites. That was around 4:30. Then we had a softball game against another law firm. I drank about 6 miller lites there. Next door to our game was a game with the DA's office. After the games were over, the DA's office invited us to drink a Miller Lite keg with them, where I drank unknown amounts of miller lite. I'm home now.
