THE PROCESS
Step 1: Members of Obner will nominate 2 albums. Any 2 albums that they feel should be included.
Step 2: The first 80 members’ nominations (160 albums total) will be randomly placed in 32 groups of 5 albums. Members will then have the opportunity to vote for their favorite album in each group.
Step 3: The top 2 vote getters in each group will then participate in a 64-album March Madness-style tournament to determine Obner’s Definitive Favorite Album of All-Time. The rankings will be determined by the votes each album receives in the group stage (ie. the more votes an album gets, the higher its ranking).

So let’s proceed…my nominated albums are:

The Smiths – The Queen Is Dead
Can – Ege Bamyasi

with only 160 albums, i have a feeling something important is gonna be left off.

Why not just use the 100 from listmania to start with and let people nominate albums that AREN'T on that list?

Come on, man. We've done a version of this twice now and "London Calling" won both times.

With this in mind, I propose having twenty albums in a "Hall of Fame" category.... and see what else is next up.

I don't really understand the point of this. London Calling came in #1 in both listmania polls we did. Is there any reason to think its not "obner's definitive favorite album"

i agree with billy, which is why i'm saying go ahead and include all of listmania and add another 160 albums. Maybe that'll dilute the voting enough to knock london calling from the top spot, otherwise, why bother with this?

It's a discussion of music, it could be a 'What's for Lunch' or some hilarious youtube thread.

I'll go ahead & nominate the eventual winner (unless there's some sort of Clash backlash)

The Clash - London Calling

& throw in

Radiohead - OK Computer

But, yeah, I'd say "London Calling" has already claimed the Definitive Obner Favorite Album Award already.

i'm not saying don't do it. I'm saying how do we make it a little more interesting? Also, why 160 albums?

How many of the albums nominated so far are already on listmania?

Rancid moves into the top five....

In the spirit of NOT nominating any already in the hall of fame...
