I have a kind of random question... it's about pron and well, I admit that you guys were the first people I thought to ask. This is Obner, afterall.

I just heard via my bf that a friend of ours--a really sweet, talented guy, but who we've had to stage an intervention for before b'c of a powder problem--is apparently really doing it up money-wise these days on pron spending (online). He heard this via the guy's current roommate, another old friend of my bf's.

Now obviously, many dudes are into pron--not exactly a shocking newsflash. But it got us talking about what's a reasonable amount money-wise to be shelling out for it, and what's a little over the top. Also, it's obviously the guy's own business (although I think he's seeing someone now and she probably has no idea), it's just in the past (my bf and I were previously roommates with him) he's gotten into some crazy stuff that got out of control, resulting in said intervention. It wasn't all that long ago, so we're still kind of on the lookout for that kind of stuff.

So, apparently he told our other friend that he was short for rent this month and when it all came out it's looking like over the past 4 months he's gotten himself about $2,000 in the hole on his credit cards from a live chat site .

So, fair inhabitants of the Ob, would you say that's all in a day's work (or, um, wank), or do you think it's a little loco? Or maybe it's just none of our business.

there are different ways to deal.

SLAA (sex and love addicts anonymous) is one of the many free, available sex addiction programs out there. Porn addiction is a real thing and dealt with heavily.

I don't know what his Devil's Dandruff situation is but if he is clean (or not) there is something called "cross addiction" where you basically quit one thing and switch your addiction to something else. It's very easy. You're seeking to fill an internal hole and if you can't use one thing, you will find another (this is why people in AA don't say, smoke pot). It doesn't happen to everyone but it happens a lot. Especially with sex. And eating disorders too, actually.

exactly right. his girlfriend is not the issue, and can't really do anything for him aside from try and get him help. his "need" for an outlet, in this case being pron, is the issue.
