Beatles, and I'm guessing the Smiths will pull in a solid 2nd...?

Whigs.

I don't like Abbey Road, nor any of the others in this group.

Flame away, but I voted Animal Collective. It's their best album, and I haven't been voting for any newer albums.

Abbey Road is better, but I said I wouldn't vote for any Beatles unless the other choices were total crap. They aren't. (Well, except for Afghan Whigs.)

The Queen Is Dead would be my second choice if not for AC. Honestly, I haven't really been listening to The Smiths for very long, but I prefer the s/t to this by a small margin.

that's an odd set of criteria to make for yourself, but that's the deal I guess.

Queen is Dead, even though I think it gets a bit too much praise for being about 3/4 great. I'm not a huge Abbey Road fan myself.

The Beatles will make through all of the early rounds without my vote.

Later on, if this or any other Bealtes album is up against, say, Weezer or London Calling or Blonde on Blonde or Wish You Were Here or Darkness on the Edge of Town, I'll vote for it.

ditto. Though the new one has grown on my quite a bit to gain considerable ground in the best of AC category.

I gave a thought to The Smiths, but it's Abbey Road, so fuck me!

Feels would be my Animal Collective vote.
Abbey Road is a given, and I like The Smiths, but Endtroducing is groundbreaking debut and a masterpiece.

all these years later, i don't know why reading that still bothers me. But i still don't understand what is so groundbreaking or interesting about it.

I think the fact that it was entirely composed on an MPC60 and is considered to be the first album entirely made from sampled sources is pretty huge.

MP60 was a standard in NYC production for at least a decade and I guess i don't see it as a positive to take rapping out of hip hop.
