SUCKS!

Every track on this record has the same formula.

a) Start off each track with an interesting beginning
b) Basicly loop the the beginning for about...oh 3-4 minutes.
c) After playing the loop so many times that your ears are about to bleed
what do you do?
d) Keep looping the same piece over and over again for another 2 minute
with no change.

This is Daft Punk's new record.

How ironic is it that they named it 'Human After All'

This record could be B sides for Discovery

the repetition should not surprise you. They did sing the "lyrics" "Around the world around the world" for like 8 minutes straight on Homework.

I'm going to give it a few more listens, just to see if i can.

True, but at least it has a cool beat behind it.
I've listened to it twice so far and still the same feelings towards it.

I do think that there are enought cool parts in each track where they could be made into good remixes.

a guy i know has that breakwater album, splashdown, and clued me in. he didn't like human after all for the same reasons as you, that the whole album is loops. and then he was most upset that one of the best songs is just a sampled loop for three minutes. we both suspect that there must be more, but he couldn't place any others and i haven't heard any more of the album since his revelation.

if you're not a fan of minimal techno, why would you buy daft punk?

I've listened to it a couple of times this week and I like it; I agree that it's not quite as good as Discovery, but it's not that bad.

I have to admit that when I read the comment regarding it's repetitiveness, I sort of chuckled because I was thinking exactly what bort thought regarding 'Around the World'. That's sort of why I listen to Daft Punk.

that's the point. you know what you're getting into when you put them on. you're not getting some experimental techno that shifts and changes every 4 bars, you're getting a solid groove that chugs along at a steady pace. that's why i dig them. the groove. they've mastered it.

this is dance music people.

Understood, but at least the tracks from Discovery and Homework are more tollerable. Homework was reptitious, but the beats were great. Discvovery had plenty of changes and was more of a song oriented record.

Human After All is just weak.
They could be b sides for Discovery.

The new Daft Punk held about as much expectation as a late season sitcom entry in the Wednesday 8:30 timeslot.

Let's talk about how the new Moby sucks too.

totally agree with you except i wouldn't really call daft punk "minimal techno." ;)

either you love this album or you hate it, but i think most fans of dance music DO like this album. i know i sure do.
