Also, you Boston folks got any restaurant recommendations?

I am not exactly a Boston folk, but I have frequented the joint, if you know what I mean. I'm sure the locals will have far more informed recommendations than I, but here are a few places I like to hit when I am in town:

The Middle East (Mass Ave, Cambridge) - Great selection of beers, and excellent middle eastern and pub fare. I recommend the kefta (the sides of beans and rice are awesome).

Grasshopper Vegan(Allston) - Whenever I eat here with Vegetarian friends, I am always impressed by my meal.

Border Café (Harvard Square) - This place looks like a crappy family chain place (and it may be), but I had a fantastic meal here last summer.
It's a mix of Mexican and Cajun. I had the catfish. I had been driving all day during a heat wave, and I drank a lot of Tecate really fast and got really hammered. Good times.

Yeah, Bar Harbor is bee-utiful. My parents honeymooned there took the family on vacation there around one of their anniversaries.

Modem, thumbs up.

Harvard Square is a fifteen minute walk from us, fwiw. We've passed this place (Border Cafe) a bunch of times, and I'm always curious because they appear to have bottles of Louisiana Crystal hot sauce on the tables (I'm halfway through bottle 2 of the 3 tentoze sent me last year). But Neuro said it wasn't that good, so we haven't been yet.

boloco is a good mexican chain restaurant if you just want a quick lunch.

bartley's in harvard square has good burgers but gets real crowded most of the time. i like charlie's kitchen too which is nearby.

Our favorite spots to eat so far are Gaslight in the south end, and Daedalus in Harvard Square. Good service at both, good menus, and good views. I'm sure there are lots of other great places, but we don't eat out enough to try everything.

Sup?

I'm about to leave for the airport and nothing has been decided if anyone wants get a drink Monday.

I'll be around the computer later this afternoon and intermittently all weekend.

If anyone is still interested how about someplace in Cambridge?

I did a quick check and I don't know how accurate this is but I saw that there are trivia nights at the following on Mondays:

The Purple Shamrock
The Common Ground
Tavern In The Square

No clue how recent those postings were, nor do I know anything about those places.

I nice dingy pub with a juke could work too.

Is that the same as "Charley's"?

Went to "Charley's" for a beer yesterday and lunch today. Corner of Gloucester and Newbury. Newbury Comics was cool. Thanks for that rec.

Picked up that re-issue of Isaac Hayes's "Hot Buttered Soul".

Great game last night despite it ending in a loss. Got some free baseball. I have no idea where we went last night after. Some place on Landesdown (sp?) St. for some beers then some mexican joint. Openly don't remember even leaving the last place and I woke up in all my clothes today.

The beginning of the 4th has been ominous so far........

As I was lamenting the demise of the Bearpaw trip, I saw this and shed a solitary for the True American Monster that is Derris. I'm proud of you, GG.

Also, this is very true. Don't miss this coming attraction.

I just got back into town this morning at 10, straight to work from the car ride from Madison. I think I drank 40 different kinds of beer last week. Sweet jesus.

I'm busier than fuckall today catching up, but I have texted Derris and not gotten an answer yet. I won't lie, either - I would kill a baby seal to have this happen somewhere near me tonight, like Harvard Square, if it is in any way possible. The way-pregnant wife wants to come out to see her some Derris, and that plus the 4 hours I got of sleep in the back of a rental car this morning from 4 to 8am means I am going to be hurtin for certain. BUT I'M COMING OUT. So let's get something figured out here.

Who's in? Me, Neuro, Shiv...

Derris did ask me via text a few days ago if there was any trivia to be had. The Mrs reports the following:

"Tavern on the square, john harvard's brew house, and the thirsty ear are all in cambridge and have trivia tonight."

Jon? Neuro?

Ok, Tavern In The Square - (PORTER SQUARE) - has trivia tonight at 8pm, and takes my kind of credit card.

No word from Neuro or Derris yet. But I wanna make this happen.

No responses from Neuro or Derris. Shiv, plan on this and I'll text you if it changes.

wtf, derris? You better be in a ditch somewhere.

He's probably riding the Ducks and taking the Cheers tour or some shit, and forgot his phone.

3rd place, bitches.

Not only did Derris muster his sorryness out of bed and come out, he then put away 5 or 6 double-sized Sam Summers and led us to a podium finish.
