I actually heard some idiot in Times Square compare him to John Lennon.

Guy was an amazing entertainer but he was Wacko Jacko longer than he was the King of Pop.

Then again, he'll only be remembered for his music. Hell, Jerry Lee Lewis married his fucking 13 year old cousin and people still love some "Great Balls of Fire".

The most annoying thing about the "king of pop" tag is that MJ came up with that moniker himself. There are rules for these sorts of things. You can't just decree yourself king.

But that was where he placed being in socio-cultural history, is exactly his gift.... he nakedly WANTED more, bigger, and his dancing and persona demanded validation. His scale of self-conscious positioning pre-figured the whole Rap/Hip Hop "this song is about me and who I am..." Reagan era greed, people of color claiming a part of the pie, crotch grabbing self-agrandisement, the "brand of self" and charging a lifestyle to a bottomless debt just because it is your right.... no image is better emblematice of the last quarter of the 20th century.

I did not make that. I only made the half-ass moonwalk into open grave. I'm attempting to become the FT of Easy Joke Photoshops.

Makes sense. There's a young girl in the pic, and I'm pretty sure the Fu wouldn't tolerate such inaccuracies.

Very true. It is also obviously Webster and cancer-free.

As the world continues to try to grasp and make sense of the incredibly shocking death of Michael Jackson, several people close to the family and investigation are hinting that prescription drugs may have played a role in the King of Pop's demise.
TMZ is reporting that a Jackson family members have confirmed that Michael received a shot of Demerol just before Noon on Thursday, and that the dosage was "too much." They say Jackson typically recieved a shot of Demerol daily.
Britain's The Sun, citing sources at the UCLA hospital where Jackson was treated, is reporting that Jackson stopped breathing shortly after a shot of Demerol, a drug similar to morphine. "Shortly after taking the Demerol he started to experience slow shallow breathing. His breathing gradually got slower and slower until it stopped," the Sun source said.

I was going on my in-hospital experiences with it when they just stuck it into the Ringer's line...sweet sweet memories.

Jackson-related releases are certainly clogging up the iTunes top 100 right now.

Does anyone else think he looked like Steve Tyler in his last press conference?
