Definitely agree on these three, that Matt Valentine is the best he's done since Creek to Creation, in my opinion.

I haven't been feeling as many things as being "Great"this year (unless reissues counted which, to me, they don't)...

A "top 10"-ish list would be maybe:
The Long Lost, JVanderslice, Sunset Rubdown, Silversun Pickups, God Help The Girl, The Paper ChAse, Ducktails, Cave, Minor Cannon

Definitely:
Mountain Goats & John Darnielle - Moon Colony Bloodbath
Nosaj Thing - Drift
Healamonster and Tarsier - Cupcake Cave
Foreign Born - Person to Person
Greater California - All The Colors
JDilla - Jay Stay Paid
Tortoise - Beacons of Ancestry
Cam'Ron - Crime Pays

Man, I really, really tried with that Grizzly Bear. After 4 spins, I am not feeling it AT ALL.

I just want to point out that I have loved Phoenix for like 10 years (due to their Air connection) and everyone teased me and suddenly they put out a "meh" album and they're all over the placed.

that said, I have no top 10 list yet. I am too lazy.

I'm in Greenville for a couple days, and thus away from most of my music stash, but I'll attempt to do this- the result won't get much traction here (normal) with 73 year old Ian Tyson singing new cowboy songs at the top of the heap.

that album is actually decent. there's other stuff on his list that's worse.

I consider approval from either of you to be a signifier of failure.

First track is my favorite, too, but after several listens I kinda realized I didn't like the other tracks that much.

Still a good album. I like Vetiver and would rather listen to them than lots of other stuff.
