I like contracting, but it's not for everyone, and I'd make sure they aren't going to whore you as an employee, but pay you as a contractor just to cheat the IRS. If they honestly want to hire you as a contractor (here's a basic checklist), give it a whirl for the cash, and be aware that you will have to handle your own taxes on the gig.

You figure out 3 months in 3 months.

you better believe it. i'm actually using this as an excuse to buy a new point and shoot "for my wife". last time i took my dSLR to red rocks, i got hassled because it is a "professional" camera
now just need to figure out if i'm gonna be loyal to nikon and get the Coolpix 12.1 -or- go with the way better reviews that the canon powershot 10 or G10 seem to be getting....

this was definitely the biggest adjustment we had to figure out when my wife started contracting about a year ago. we now pay taxes quarterly, which sucks at first...but you get used to it and do what you gotta do.

fwiw, she was hired on with this company for 3 months and has been renewed now 4 times, every time her contract was about to expire. so just kick ass and make yourself indispensible to them....
