And Billy - hard to argue against Bringing it All Back Home --> Basement Tapes. The flip side to that is, most everything not-Live after that sucks.

So you wouldn't take "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan", "The Times They Are A Changin' ", "Another Side of Bob Dylan", "Desire", "Nashville Skyline", "Planet Waves", "New Morning", and "Blood on the Tracks" over "Pet Sounds"? I would easily.

Though my shock is a little lessened now that I realize you meant most Dylan albums not made between 65-67 and not just most albums not made between 65-67.

Desire or New Morning would make me think. I guess BOTT would was well. The others, not so much. I like Dylan Plugged In.

I'm not trying to compare the two, but I hope I'm missing something here..
I could see using Empire Burlesque or World Gone Wrong. Maybe even Street Legal instead of The Basement Tapes. But c'mon, The Basement Tapes is one of the greatest records EVER made. It's strong, pure, eccentric and fuggin hilarious.

its a through, not a greater than. My favorite Dylan period is 65 until the motorcycle wreck.

Same with 'Travelling Riverside Blues', one of my favourite songs of all time.
