This is the first round of the tournament stage. Please vote for the album that you feel should move on to the second round.

To encourage as many votes as possible, the deadline to vote will be Monday at 2:00PM Eastern.

I went with the underdog. I love the Stones, but I probably listen to B&S more often.

You're lucky I'm not ambitious enough to paste this all over Nebraska, cause you would be the next Matthew Shepard.

I like many Belle & Sebastian songs a whole lot, but if we're talking full album, Stones win easily.

If it hasn't happened yet, this won't help it. Hearing "Hey Fag" being yelled from a car as I walk downtown to a bar happens on a regular basis. It's almost disappointing if you don't receive the stink eye or some comment like that.
I also avoid the western 2/3 of the state at all costs.

Not really.

Dear Diary,

Today was a BIG day!!!! The girl at the coffee shop smiled at me. I think it was me. It feels so good to get to the next step of our relationship like this. And after only four months too!!!! Oh, and as the bonus cherry on top of the deliciously evil white chocolate ice cream that I shouldn't eat (BUT DO :-() I voted for Belle & Sebastian over those cruddy old Rolling Stones on the message board that I lurk at. VICTORY!!!!!1!

Stones. I'm OK with B&S, but I've never heard that record. Their last one, Life Pursuit, tends to be my fav.

If you like B&S, you should own If You're Feeling Sinister.

I have no problem with how the voting is going. I went with the underdog and the album I honestly listen to more. I guess I don't get being outraged by 12 people voting for this album. I don't think the point of this was to have unanimous voting for the favorite in each pairing. I think a lot of us were hoping to see at least a slight change from the listmania vote.

I don't really have a problem with the voting either, there's no outrage here, only a little bafflement at everyone tossing votes to the "underdog" which I don't get. Do you actually think Belle & Sebastian have the better album here? Sure it's all opinion and shit, but fuck it's Exile on Main St. versus Belle and Sebastian. There have been some albums polled that I don't listen to as often, but I voted for because it's simply a better album. I could have put the Tragically Hip's Road Apples in the voting pool which I listen to ever other week but if it was up against Revolver I'd vote for Revolver because it really is a better album and not because it's important and all that. But in the end, who cares if it's exactly like listmania either. I don't.

I agree that we shouldn't just throw a vote for an underdog out of spite, but this isn't a contest about "better" album, it is our "favorite" album. I like the Stones and the Beatles, but I don't personally listen to them on a regular basis. B&S isn't my favorite album, but I'd put it in "If you're feeling sinister" to listen to such tracks as "Me and the Major", "Judy and the dream of horses" and "Get me away from here, I'm dying" before I'd throw on "Exile on Main Street" to listen to "Rocks Off", "Tumbling Dice" or "Shine a Light".
