Wilco - Wilco (The Album)
...I'll admit, I'm disappointed. But that seems to be the trend... AM: Mediocre. Being There: Awesome. Summerteeth: Mediocre. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot: Awesome. A Ghost Is Born: Worst of the Mediocre. Sky Blue Sky: Awesome. So I should have expected another mediocre offering from them. At this point the only thing it has going for it is the fact that it isn't A Ghost Is Born.

...this on the other hand... AWESOME. I couldn't have asked for much more as a follow-up to Marry Me. Catchy in all the right ways. Twisted in all the right ways. Delivers the great parts dabbled with on Marry Me without as much filler baggage of the aforementioned album. Probably a top three album of the year for me, duking it out with Sonic Youth and The Dirty Projectors.

The Specials & More Specials

Best of the bunch for the 2-tone 80s bands...although I also really love English Beat, Sleccter and some madness songs here and there. Anyway, these are the first two studio albums and pretty much give you everything you need. I also enjoyed some of the alter stuff, but after these first two, the rest is for fans anyway. Really, most people could probably just make do with the Singles collection available, but I do think getting these two is a better move as some of these earlier tracks that weren't singles are better than many of the alter tunes that were. More Specials does slow things down considerably from the firs album so if something in this genre with a more laid back beat is in order, it's a nice choice.

Squad Five-0 - Bombs Over Broadway
...the only musical album to ever predict 9-11 before it happened (evidence: cover featuring planes flying toward the twin towers), the album is nostalgic for me as I spun it heavily in my later teen years. Solid glam punk rock... nothing I'd really recommend to anyone... but nothing I'd be too ashamed to listen to in the presence of others.

Moby: Wait For Me

Extremely laid back release. If you have enjoyed his warmer, mellower tracks from previous albums, this will probably be right up your alley. I'm enjoying it and can see myself reaching for it late at night or early in the morning. Supposed to have been quite David Lynch influenced and it shows. Quite a bit of a haunted Twin Peaksy vibe on most of the songs. The tracks where he takes the vocal are low points for me and they kinda break the mood a bit. But, an overall nice listen.
