He did too good a job of disguising the nature of the alarm? Like, he just got up and bolted. No "whoop - shit my pants" or "uh oh, rumble in the bronx" or anything, just up and gone, leaving her to worry that it was something medical / serious.

Also, maybe they were hoping the kid would get lost or kidnapped.

I didn't hear the guy say anything - just sudden splashing and movement. The wife said something to the guy after he jumped out of the tub. She seemed to be sort of uncomfortably laughing as she went after him.

Update: I saw this family coming out of the elevator in the hotel yesterday. This clearly means they've been staying in the hotel for THREE WEEKS.

They took little johnny out to the parking lot with them while they smoked, then went back inside, apprently up to their room.
