Mojo Magazine Wrote:
Richard Hell has re-recorded his 1982 album Destiny Street after branding the original a "high-pitched sludge of guitar noise".

"At the time of the original recording I was so debilitated by despair and drug-need that I was useless," Hell revealed. "The record ended up being a high-pitched sludge of guitar noise. It was a shame because the songs were clean, simple, and well-constructed, but those values were sabotaged by the inappropriate arrangements and production."

Recruiting three guitarists - Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell and original Voidoid Ivan Julian - Hell re-recorded the vocals for each track after unearthing the master rhythm tracks.

Destiny Street Repaired will be released on September 1.

But the old one sounds fine.

I've never heard it but the reason I steared clear of it was because I'd heard from multiple people that it wasn't very good.

Oh it's absolutely worth hearing at the very least. It's not Blank Generation, of course, but it's still a good album.

Not as solid all the way through, but a few really great songs on there, I think. I like Downtown at Dawn and the title track as much as most anything off Blank Generation and it features a killer version of Dylan's Going, Going Gone.

Hell, I'm gonna go cue this thing up right now.

"Kid With The Replaceable Head" is my second favorite Richard Hell song.

Plus Time and I Can Only Give You Everything. Great album, really. I'll be curious to hear this re-recording, even if I don't feel it is really necessary.
