Agree, even if you are joking.

Pavement was absolutely waxed by The Pixies in that semi-final. I think there a lot of albums that would have worked their way through a losers bracket to beat Pavement.

Beatles though both albums occupy a similar place for me in each bands' catalog.

For Pavement, I would reach for CR,CR, Terror Twilight or Brighten The Corners before S&E.

For the Beatles, I would reach for Abbey Road, White Album or Magical Mystery Tour before Revolver

You weren't aware of this?

I'm a complete opposite with Bloor on Beatles, Pavement & Pixies.

Don't be shocked, Terror Twilight especially is a FAR better record. Like not even close.

Bloor, you're just dead wrong on this.

Nope, just went through both albums real quick to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Not even close, Terror Twilight is far superior.

Keep in mind too that I bought every Pavement album in like a two week period in 1999 having only heard "Cut Your Hair" before that. So I've got no baggage or emotional attachment to any of them. Just the facts.

This is the most alarming statement thus far.

Drugs are the only explanation.

Face Dances was my first Who album, and remains my favorite, so i'm really in no place to point fingers.

The only Pavement album that can even hang on the coattails of Slanted & Enchanted is Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, and they're great albums for very different reasons. However, the greatest of Pavement's output is the near-perfect Watery, Domestic EP. Those four songs are etched into my brain forever. That EP is also the perfect bridge between S&E and CR,CR. Bloor, I suggest that you go back to the beautiful mess that is Westing (By Musket or Sextant) to gain a real perspective on why you like Terror Twilight so much.

I DESPISE Westing. Like, ten years later and I'm still pissed at myself for buying it. Awful.

I never really liked Westing, either.

But Terror Twilight is not very good. It's the prelude to Malkmus's solo material which is also not very good.

Westing is purposely grating and hard to get through, but it has some great songs that are better heard on live albums.
