Really liked this myself. I think its minimalism and atmosphere is what appealed to me. Diff'rent strokes.

Movie wasn't strong enough to incite hate, but I just thought it was "ok" and I don't see any reason to watch it again.

yeah, i really didn't get all the praise for it. michelle williams was good but i really didn't get the point of the movie.

The movie was really good. I enjoyed the hell out of it. Much more character-driven humor this time, and I wasn't ready for it to be over, even though it's long.

Saw this last night, directed by David Bowie's son apparently

cautiously recommended if you like sci-fi mysteries

pretty good

Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is nearing the end of his contract with Lunar. He`s been a faithful employee for 3 long years. His home has been Selene, a moon base where he has spent his days alone, mining Helium 3. The precious gas holds the key to reversing the Earth`s energy crisis. Isolated, determined and steadfast, Sam has followed the rulebook obediently and his time on the moon has been enlightening, but uneventful. The solitude has given him time to reflect on the mistakes of his past and work on his raging temper. But 2 weeks shy of his departure from Selene, Sam starts seeing things, hearing things and feeling strange. And when a routine extraction goes horribly wrong, he discovers that Lunar have their own plans for replacing him and the new recruit is eerily familiar. Before he can return to Earth, Sam has to confront himself and the discovery that the life he has created, may not be his own. It`s more than his contract that is set to expire.

I saw "The Half-Blood Prince" yesterday morning. I enjoyed it. No complaints here. Yeah, it's a bit long, but if you're easily enveloped by the mood of a movie like I am, then you won't notice the length.

Pretty much.
Kids liked it, too.

Agreed. I'm not a Harry Potter fanatic and have only read the first book, but the movies continue to be enjoyable and keep my attention easily.

I really want to see Moon.

I was kind of half paying attention to this...It was OK. Worth a rental I guess. No real outstanding performances or anything. Decent storyline and execution, but it didn't really grab me, and I didn't care about most of the characters besides Jeff Daniels character, who was entertaining.

I saw Horton Hears a Who this weekend. Meh.

This part was great, though:

Saw this on Friday and liked it quite a bit. Sam Rockwell is one of my favorite actors and he really pulls the whole thing off. The visual effects were incredibly impressive considering this probably had a budget that was a small fraction of something like Transformers or Star Trek. It's one of those movies that you really get more out of if you go into it knowing very little. As such, I won't discuss my thoughts on the story.

Also saw Harry Potter 6 and enjoyed it.

Last night I saw this with my oldest:

It was the second time that I saw it. The first time I thought it was pretty good, but was a little disappointed, because I expected more.

This time, I got what I expected the first time. It blew me away.

finally saw this. quality, and not as many dick jokes as i was expecting. i'd def see it again in the theater if i knew someone that didn't want to have to go by themselves.

Image

i also now understand why bradley cooper was in the running for the green lantern. a better lead than i was expecting.

Incredibly eye-opening doc about prostitution that takes minors and puts them on the street. Usually coming from a broken homes, a pimp will come and pick these hurting girls off the street, and give them attention that they crave. Unfortunately, this leads to mental manipulation and ultimately they end up working the streets.

The doc does, however, feature Rachel Lloyd, who founded Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS) in NYC. Basically taking girls (and make no mistake, they are young girls--avg. age is 13-14), and instead putting them in the jail system, tries to rehabilitate them.

Crazy to think this stuff occurs in the U.S. but it does, and it might be happening out your window.

Classic Sergei Einsenstein film, commissioned by Stalin. It may have been meant as a propaganda film, but its now regarded as a masterpiece.
