This is the first part (the group stage) in Obner's efforts to pick the best album released in the 2000s. In the group stage, there will be 64 groups of 5 albums. The top vote-getter in each group will advance to the 64-album tournament.

Please vote for the album that you feel deserves to be in the tournament. The deadline for this group is Monday, July 27 at 1:00PM Eastern Time.

The only one that I really know in this grouping is the Strokes record.
Looks like I got a couple more things to check out.

Thanks, Obner!

Whoever nominated that Jamie Lidell can't possibly have heard it.

Strokes.

Person Pitch.

Is This It? and Multiply are both really good. Never could get into that Sigur Ros album. Do not like any Mountain Goats album after Tallahassee.

Ouch. That is unfortunate for my Mountain Goats nom. I'm still giving my vote to them.

Is This It was probably one of the first huge records over at CMJ, largely because of kph. I'm guessing it should win easily.

I usually agree with you, but not here. I don't know that there has been a better album this decade than Person Pitch. Don't get me wrong I would take Is This It (and Multiply for that matter) over most of the albums in the other groups, but nothing comes close to that Panda Bear in my opinion.

Sigur Ros over Panda Bear. I went with live performance for this category, and Sigur Ros was phenomenal live.

Person Pitch is a great record, but the Strokes debut I like just a little more--I almost just flipped a coin.

I do like the 2nd Strokes record more though...

OTM

Person Pitch is one of the most beautiful records released this decade but will lose to Is This It which has no question mark in the title.
