This is the first part (the group stage) in Obner's efforts to pick the best album released in the 2000s. In the group stage, there will be 64 groups of 5 albums. The top vote-getter in each group will advance to the 64-album tournament.

Please vote for the album that you feel deserves to be in the tournament. The deadline for this group is Monday, July 27 at 1:00PM Eastern Time.

Between Andrew Bird, Nick Cave and the DBTs, that's a tough choice.
But I gotta go with my nom: Nick Cave. Plus, it's probably the best album he put out over a pretty great 25*+ year career.

(And i fully expect it to loose to the DBTs.)

I voted for DBT even though it's the only record by them I don't own other than Gangsta Billy.

I went DBT as well. The others--NC, AB, GK I grew tired of pretty quickly.

that nick cave is up there for me for tops of this decade.

really like the AB too.

that DBT is probably second to the dirty south for me, but i'm nowhere near the fan of the band as some of youse is.

like the sharon jones too.

Sharon Jones might be the best of the bunch on its merits but I'm not tired of any classic soul so i never listen to it. I think that's one of the Andrew Birds I like. Never heard Ghostface Killah and probably wouldn't like. I don't like that nick cave. I've got to go with the DBTs.

Done.

I'd like to get that album, actually. Not real big on Nick Cave, but I'd like to hear this one. I only have one of his albums from the '90s, and I like it OK.

This is his best, IMO.

Not since "Rocks Off" opened off Exile On Main Street has there been a better opening to an album than, "GET READY FOR LOVE!!!!"

Bird gets the vote, but it's a little unfair because i haven't heard 3 of the 5 albums.
