This is the first part (the group stage) in Obner's efforts to pick the best album released in the 2000s. In the group stage, there will be 64 groups of 5 albums. The top vote-getter in each group will advance to the 64-album tournament.

Please vote for the album that you feel deserves to be in the tournament. The deadline for this group is Monday, July 27 at 1:00PM Eastern Time.

White Stripes by a hair over Outkast.

Outkast, I listened to that shit a lot more than I did The White Stripes.

Voted Microphones because I've been getting into the recent Mount Eerie stuff, and I used to love The Glow, Pt.2.

Went through a period of having no use for that guy/band, though, after seeing him live. I'll just enjoy the records from now on without bothering to go see him try to play.

Me too. Always was kind of a strange, lo fi, piece of work. Reminded me of Sebadoh III a lot in terms of production and in term of it being kind of sprawling.

This was a tough vote. Could these albums be any more different yet still solid? Also, surprised that Sun Kil Moon is just getting dusted.

Agreed. But you have to admit, WBC is a really good album. Their last good album, IMO.

White Blood Cells is amazing, but it's not Stankonia.
