who here swings the sticks? i haven't gotten out as much as I like because of this kid that squirted out, but it hasnt decreased my love. i organized a phat trip at the end of august w/ 7 other dudes and it is going to be magnificent.

goddamn slice came back on my drives as of late. i golfed in denver a few weeks ago and drove the ball worse than i can remember. i kept track of penalities and ended up with 13, a new record. i scored an even 100, which actually isnt bad considering the amount of penalty shots. generally if i'm in the low 90s i'm ecstatic

i am so white

Hot.
Out in the blazing sun.
Generally no shade available.

Hate it.

I always want to get into it, so maybe this thread can shed some light. What do I need to get started? I always see those cheapo sets from Dick's for like $200. I feel like buying those would be ok just to screw around on the municipal 9-holes.

it may be the best way to spend 5 hours. outside all day with your brahs, beer as far as the eye can see, CIGARETTES, and pissing outside.

Where's your trip gonna be?

My game has been so bad this year so far. I can't put it in the fairway off the tee to save my life, short games been solid though. I'm normally in the low 80's, and once in a while I'll break 80, but this year I've been all over the map.

I try to get out as often as possible, I need a phat trip somewheres.

going to some private course in michigan, some place one of my buddies has a hookup in.

wow, low 80s. i would kill for that. i'm confident if i got out like twice a week i woudl get into the 80s. but thats just impossible right now

speaking of, i just received an email from my godfather inviting me to come back to medinah. the first time i played medinah, it ate me alive and i quit golf for the rest of the year . last year, i think i got in the mid-high 90s which i was more than fine with. not too sure how i'll do this year

fucking MEDINAH....there's so many nice courses in the Chicago area though, mostly private. Best course I've played this year is University Ridge, where the Badgers play...so nice.

It's summer people. What do you expect?

Get out of bed and get an early tee time. Besides, bloody mary's taste better at 9am anyway.

what course did you play in denver?

after a late start this summer, i'm beginning to pick it up again. i would be incredibly happy if i consistently shot low 90's. i have a little slice on my drives that i just correct by aiming left (and freaking everyone out at the same time) off the tee box...but i get middle of the fairway 90% of the time. if i could straighten it out i'm sure i would get 30 more yards out of my drive probably. where my game really hurts me is the area right outside the green - from about 30 yards and in or so -- i can't chip worth a shit.

i fucking love my new clubs though. taylormade R7 irons, burner draw driver and R7 draw rescue hybrid (4). i'm thinking of adding a 2 hybrid.

we are heading up to keystone in a few weekends to play and i'm expecting (hoping) to be able to kill the ball up there.

but yeah, i can't think of a better way to spend a sunday. find 3 buddies who are all about the same level as you, and there you go...just don't ever take it too seriously (easier said than done).

When I was 17, I got thrown off a course here early one morning for "disruptive behavior" best left unspecified now. Had a 19 through 4 holes, too, the rat bastards. I and the rest of the foursome drove straight to Daytona Beach and got arrested. Fuck golf.

i'm really excited for this trip i put together though. we have a cabin on the course that we're staying in friday and saturday night. and our deal includes unlimited golf, so i think saturday we might try for 36.

the cabin is a 4 bedroomer, and has a grill. so post golf we'll be feasting on cow and hog flesh and drinking steins of beer until the tears come. i cant wait

haha, yeah, i refused to buy myself new stuff for years. i had a second hand, cheap ass wilson set for years. but one of our vendors here set up a "rewards" program where you earn $$$ for taking certification tests and just getting on strategic calls...golfsmith is one of the places you can spend your money.

and better clubs really do make a difference.

this one guy that i golf with from time to time consistently shaves strokes from his score. he's also never beaten me. i guess i dont care what he puts down as long as its not better than mine, if i know i'm beating him. but he routinely doesnt count penalties, muffed shots, etc. he clearly gets a 7 or 8 and is like "umm, put me down for a 5!" its fun to call him out on his bullshit.

he always kinda treads along barely making par here, bogey there, then BOOM has an epic implosion that ruins the entire day for him. i fucking love it. then he just ends up getting really drunk and always cant find his ball. kind of annoying
