This is the first part (the group stage) in Obner's efforts to pick the best album released in the 2000s. In the group stage, there will be 64 groups of 5 albums. The top vote-getter in each group will advance to the 64-album tournament.

Please vote for the album that you feel deserves to be in the tournament. The deadline for this group is Tuesday, July 28 at 1:00PM Eastern Time.

Burial

I like Grizzly Bear, but that album is too new for me.

Dead Meadow, I like that Burial album a good bit, but Dead Meadow sent me looking back for My Bloody Valentine, Sleep, Cocteau Twins, just generally taught me guitars aren't neccesarily bad.

Yeah, Tyranny of Distance is much better.

Lovely how the worst of the two Ted Leo albums is winning it's group.

Seriously, I hate all 5 of you who have voted Burial so far.

Most overrated piece of dreck to come down the pipe in ages and I have listened to it at least 5 times, much to my fucking chagrin.

Didn't much care for this group overall.

Yeah, put Tyranny of Distance here and Hearts of Oak there and the right album moves along easily.
