This is the first part (the group stage) in Obner's efforts to pick the best album released in the 2000s. In the group stage, there will be 64 groups of 5 albums. The top vote-getter in each group will advance to the 64-album tournament.

Please vote for the album that you feel deserves to be in the tournament. The deadline for this group is Wednesday, July 29 at 1:00PM Eastern Time.

I loved that Four Tet when it came out, but I don't listen to it that much anymore....the only other one I've heard is Franz Ferdinand...so, Four Tet.

Jim O'Rourke. Absolutely essential listening.

I really like all these albums except the Jens Lekman which I've never heard.

I'm a bit surprised that this is in the lead over Franz Ferdinand.

I don't know if I'd go that far. FF was a party record and it certainly got it's share of spins in my world but I probably haven't pulled it out in forever. I still pull out that PJ Harvey record.

It's the record that got me into her and looking into her back catalog. Just a solid record even if I usually skip "Kamikaze". To me it just sounds like she's comfortable in what she does by that point. Less experimental and abrasive, more straight forward and clear in what she is trying to say.

Not very shocking though IMO. That record topped many a year end list.
