Anybody hear these guys? I've heard them described as a Latin American version of the Black Lips. Heard one song online. Seeing 'em tonight, and curious if anyone's got any ideas or opinions on em.

they have a little black lips, a little stooges, etc. i saw them a few weeks ago with mannequin men and thought they were pretty fun and really gritty. they're probably the biggest puerto rican punk band going right now.

but the one guitar player was a little brutal. i think he called someone in the audience a nigger and then asked two girls, "so which one of you is gonna fuck me?" i mean, i laughed, but i'm not sure their comprehension of english is top-notch.

Thanks for the upload. Should have time for a listen before the gig.

And I'll be sure to keep my girl away from the guitar player.

Record's OK, but way better live. Sorry, but the recording is just beyond lo fi, directly into shit territory. I don't need anything spit shined, but the CD sounds like it was recorded in an echo box and lacks energy. Live, these guys jump out at you with a shit ton of energy. Catchy as hell even though I didn't know what they were saying. Bought the vinyl anyway. I'd say totally worth checking out when they roll through your town.

By the way, you can go here:

and get free downloads of the other bands that played last night. The Nevermores are garage rockers with a Poe obsession. A little samey in long stretches but great, hard-edged 60s style garage. Left Arm is a three piece, more high energy garage rock. Nevermores full length is good, and free...as is the Electric Babies single from Left Arm.

Cats, you like that ultra lo-fi shit. They could set down a fisher-price cassette recorder in the middle of the rehearsal room and just press record and then transfer it to disc and you'd be happy. The recording is echoey, some songs are louder than others, you can barely make out the instruments in that pile of mush. I still like it OK. Just that live where you can actually hear the band decently I think they sound a hell of a lot better.

I think you're a little right. But I do have a limit. And this is way better than my limit.
