This is the first part (the group stage) in Obner's efforts to pick the best album released in the 2000s. In the group stage, there will be 64 groups of 5 albums. The top vote-getter in each group will advance to the 64-album tournament.

Please vote for the album that you feel deserves to be in the tournament. The deadline for this group is Friday, July 31 at 1:00PM Eastern Time.

shit man. Format and Postal Service, together. 3 or 4 polls in a row of nothing but Ticklebear In Space and now two worth voting for.

Those are the two you think are most worthy? Put down that guitar NOW.

Also, Opa's shenanigans with the seedings is really getting tired. Just pick the albums YOU want, Opa, and get on with it.

Format.
Listened to it yesterday, and the hooks don't dull with time. "Inches and Falling" still gets me every time.

The Jon Brion is great, but in a more academic way. I appreciate the craft in that one, while The Format grabs me.

I like both of those, for different reasons.

Voted Libs, but am not going to get CHH is The Format wins.

Postal Service.

Best "electronic" album I've heard this decade. Of course, I don't listen to a lot of that shizzle. Despite shiv's burial, I like me some Ben Gibbard.

The Postal Service even if side two sucks ass. if this was just an EP it would be one of the best from the 2000's.

And I thought the Format would slay the Libertines.

How wrong I was!
