This is the first part (the group stage) in Obner's efforts to pick the best album released in the 2000s. In the group stage, there will be 64 groups of 5 albums. The top vote-getter in each group will advance to the 64-album tournament.

Please vote for the album that you feel deserves to be in the tournament. The deadline for this group is Friday, July 31 at 1:00PM Eastern Time.

Exploding HEarts pretty easily over KOL. The other 3 aren't that bad either, really.

Aha Shake beats Gillian Welch.

I like to imagine that they're a single person, but with multiple personality disorder. Kind of like Roseanne but a little more unstable.

Damn. I probably should just go ahead and vote Gillian but I think I'll wait and play spoiler.

Regardless, Gillian Welch is easily the best thing to come out of that "O Brother Where Art Thou" phenomenon with regards to her getting some much deserved attention.

I was just playing that "I Wanna Sing That Rock & Roll" song from this album 2 nights ago for the dogs on acoustic. So effing good.

KOL for me.

Never got around to hearing that Sleater-Kinney. I should remedy that perhaps.
