We could see what they were shooting for, but for the price the beer was just not there yet at all.

The only one I really liked was the Pere Jacques, although the Matilda wasn't too bad. I can't really remember how Demolition or the Bourbon County Stout tasted, so that probably means they weren't stellar.
I bought this over the weekend, but haven't yet tried any:

Matilda was definately one of them, I remember that name.

I completely agree with you re: the Matilda.
Overall, though, a quality brewer. Really quality.

No I like Goose Island. They're good people. But those "craft" beers they did or whatever they're called, a few years ago at least they just were not right.

Took one of these bad boys to a byob last night and it went perfectly with my fillet Mignon well done and garlic mash potatoes and asparagus. @ 10.5% it packs a kick but goes down smooth when taking your time..

Drinking a few of these this afternoon..

I bought this the second day in Atlanta and really like it a lot. Very comparable to Bells Two Hearted Ale.

That Stone Russian Stout is gooood shit. Deceptively smooth. I dug it. Took me an hour and a half to finish mine, reading out in the sun a month or two back.

As for this past weekend, may I present a cool / delicious Capitol Maibock smuggled all the way from Madison WI, enjoyed with friends at Thumpertown Beach on Cape Cod:

Hit up a liquor store on the way to a party Saturday and spent way too much case grabbing a cart full of different bottles to give a try throughout the evening. Mostly different stouts and porters, but my favorite ended up being a La Chouffe Golden Ale Brewed with Spices.

I'd like to try more of this style of beer.

Starting the eveining right now with a Tap Room No. 21 Pale Ale. On first drink it doesn't seem too impressive honestly. Perhaps it will get better.

Coupla nights ago. Stone Vertical Epic No.8

According to the label, I was supposed to collect all of these, one a year, and save them until 2012. That's not gonna happen.

People are saying the 02 is already undrinkable.

I've only had Old Viscosity.

As much as I love beer, I'm not at the point where I want to spend $25 on a bottle.

I have 03 to 08 stored in my beer fridge. My buddy Travis and I will be busting these open in 2012.

Tried this on Friday night:
Image

A friend of mine whose opinion on beer I trust implicitly called it "the best beer (he) has ever tasted". It was impossibly disappointing.

Granted, it was a bad pour -- took just a minute or so, and came out with virtually no head. But, it was just lacking in flavor. Period. And there is no excuse for that -- no matter how badly it was poured.

Didn't read the entire thread because it's pretty freaking long, but I had the beer shown below for the first time the other night and it was spectacular!

I had this not too long ago and would have to agree that it was a bit of a let down. But, I'd drink it over a multitude of other beers any day.

Tried a few of those last night. I'm not as down on it as a lot of what I have read. It isn't a huge, bold tasting beer. But, neither is the standard Guinness. They're both a bit more subdued and subtle than much of what comes out of most micro-brews. But, I thought the 250 was quite tasty and easy to drink, a decent compliment to the standard Guinness. I'll still be more likely to stick with the original, but I'd be happy to have this again.

I hadn't heard of or seen this yet. Interesting. I'd gladly try one if I saw it somewhere, and I'm fine with normal old Guiness sometimes. It's dark and yet refreshing. Nothing fancy, but good for what it is.

I had this at a party Saturday night:

[img][375:500]http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/464/img00033n.jpg[/img]

and really enjoyed it. It's exactly what I was expecting, but still it didn't disappoint.

Was the first time I ever had it and it really may just be my favorite beer right now. Sadly, damn things ain't cheap so I don't think I'll be making this an every day beer. But, I will absolutely pick some up from time to time or go back to the bar that was serving them when the mood strikes. I need to test out some others of the style and see if I find something a bit no so pricey that has a similar taste.

From the name of it, nobody, that beer should've been deceptively high in alcohol. Also holy shit am I jealous, I loved alts when I was there last.

So I think Harpoon has a new one out, or at least new to me - unfilted wheat beer:

[img][375:500]http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/3613/img00034p.jpg[/img]

Just like all their other beers, it's solid but not inspired. Solid B beer.
