This is the first part (the group stage) in Obner's efforts to pick the best album released in the 2000s. In the group stage, there will be 64 groups of 5 albums. The top vote-getter in each group will advance to the 64-album tournament.

Please vote for the album that you feel deserves to be in the tournament. The deadline for this group is Tuesday, August 4 at 1:00PM Eastern Time.

Tough actually, but I went with Kid A. The only Radiohead album I can still play and enjoy.

Kid A, but I also like the Bloc Party album and realize Wilco will do well.

as "handshake drugs" comes up on random....AGIB it is.

i feel fairly confident that 30 years down the line, this album will be looked back upon as wilco's crowning moment.

Kinda tough between Kid A, Cryptograms, and AGIB, actually.

I'll go Deerhunter since I haven't listened to Kid A in a really, really long time, and Wilco doesn't need any help in this tournament.

Hate that Radiohead. Hate that Wilco even more. Deerhunter with the easy vote.

AGIB has never been a board favorite. i can only think of a handful of people who really took to it, even right after it was released.

it would make my decade top 5 easily though.

Play "The Late Greats" on AGIB and then play it again on Kicking Television and then defend AGIB to me again.

I'll stick to my guns: Its a really good collection of songs mired in some of the shittiest performances ever.

play any of their songs live compared to any of their studio counterparts. of course they kick their ass. (kinda like the dead or phish in that way, right?)

i'll still defend AGIB. what performance is shitty though? whatever that long silence that was supposed to represent tweedy's migraines was, ok...but easily cut off in itunes, so i've forgiven/forgotten that. ALTWYS, spiders, muzzle of bees, hummingbird, handshake drugs...all easily some of the best wilco tunes thus far.

i've really never understood what the people that feel strongly AGAINST this album have against it. seeing the songs performed live definitely took them to a new level -- especially the aforementioned "late greats" along with "wheel" and "theologians"...all of which i wasn't that big on originally, but i still have a great appreciation for all the studio versions as well.
