Is it that different from the criticism of other recent presidents, though? I hear the same level of hatred towards Obama that I heard towards Clinton from republicans in the mid-90's and on the flip-side, dems aren't generally very forgiving of republican presidents. To me this is all par for the course when one side doesn't get their way in the election.

That pic/poster is definitely over the top, but nothing compared to some of the stuff people were doing with regard to Reagan in the 80s. Either way, I see it as a statement and/or art and don't take it too seriously.

What I do take seriously is the issue of why I'm working hard and teaching my kids to work hard, when Obama is spending so much that he'll have to tax me and my kids at a much higher rate than now to even attempt to pay for what he and Congress are doing.

A Jewish Republican, in fact. Makes Eric Cantor & Joe Liebermann feel all warm inside.

Yeah I think the internet has made us more instantly aware of things like outright lies being used as talking points and things like GOP lobby groups busing scripted agitators to town hall meetings.

I don't think things are worse. The howling lunatics just have Facebook contacts now.

No, no...it's really just all the birther stuff and die-hards still convinced he's a Musilim and that sort of thing.

I'm cool with all of the cries of socialism and brown-shirted caricatures, etc. I mean that's still at the same level of the anti-Bush angst previously spewed by the libs. I guess it's when the attacks are more against the man than his ideals is where I take issue - real personal attacks, you know?

He's from Texas. The pool of eligible singles is mostly Mexican. He didn't have much choice... Even if he wanted one.

I heard it ascribed to a middle-aged-to-elderly South Carolinian at a town-hall meeting near Charlotte.

By which you mean "Obamacare" reform initiative, or the status quo of private insurers & much coverage thru jobs, the coverage being distinctly thru same & non-portable?

well geez, Tania, you're not gonna see it in West Hollywood. That's Waxman country! You're better off checking Howard Berman's district...

Go down to San Diego, Duke Cunningham's old district (cannot recall who assumed the job after he got himself perp-walked), where they arrest fiftysomething lesbians for hosting wine & cheese parties for Democrats.

An unlikely alliance of unions (people like harry) & business (billyg) enshrined health insurance as a benefit conferred to the working-class. Do an honest day's labour, get to see a doctor if sick.

Over time, that agreement has ossified in the American psyche. Work = insurance, insurance = work.

& we Americans are nothing if not a Protestant country, so that glorification of work just sits well with some.
