You pretty much find skaters in every scene nowadays. It's becoming more and more a universal hobby/sport/whatever that kids all over have a lash at.

find that thread where Dalen wanted to kill everyone in the video. That's not far off the mark.
Also: Attack! Attack!

Yeah, but they probably like their longboards better, 'cause they can glide into class listening to their Bob Marley.

Skaters would have been at the vanguard of the Wu-Heads, had the WTC coalesced around the idea of supplanting Phish at the turn of the willenium (when that VT touring group broke up, the first time).

WU! TANG! WU! TANG!

i go to the skate park at least 3 times a month still. it's a wide variety actually, so i'll run down a few artists that i've heard kids talk about and what i've heard them listening to at the park.

Slayer (a hell of a lot of them listen to Slayer after discovering them from their older bros and from Guitar Hero). I asked a kid wearing headphones what he was listening to one day and he responded "Reign In Blood". the kid was 9 years old.

Job For A Cowboy (nu metal stuff, that's heavy and not screamo)

Hip Hop (you can pick the kids out by the baggy jeans, and there are a lot of them)

Miami Bass (yep, old school bassline shit still goes off)

Minor Threat (still after all these years, MT get a lot of play)

Also, Chad couldn't be farther from the mark (shows how in touch he "thinks" he is). i have never heard emo or shit like Attack Attack or Brokencyde at the park, nor have I heard any of the kids talking about them.

Lots of t-shirts from Metallica, Misfits, Minor Threat, Green Day, Slayer, Wu Tang, etc.

Minor Threat, still? No shit. We listened to that and Fugazi and No For An Answer and DRI and The Meatmen skateboarding once upon a time.

I never had any finger boards, but I remember kids having them. I didn't even really do any tricks, I just liked milling around on a board and going places.
