beck.

though i'm guessing low will get the SSM vote here.

Apparently the SSM are too depressed by their latest round of E-Meter readings to appreciate Low.

Or, 25 people thought that Sea Change was better than the others.

I haven't had the desire to pull out any 90's Beck in years probably but this album is one I still enjoy. A couple of misses but overall I love the melancholy mood of it. Certainly a cathartic type of record and Nigel Godrich's production suits it perfectly IMO.

Seems like most people are just exhausted from Beck in general but I thought "Modern Guilt" was solid. I will listen to "Sea Change" forever when that particular itch needs to be scratched. The strings and keys backing sad songs and basic acoustic guitar. What's not to like?

NP - "It's All In Your Mind"

well said. i also thought modern guilt was really solid. then again, i have pretty much pared down the stuff i like on one foot in the grave, mellow gold and odelay to one cd-r, and i fucking hate midnite vultures - which seems to be everyone's favorite.

anyways, i really thought low would run away with this one for some reason.

I just acquired my first two Beck albums (Mellow Gold and Odelay) this year. Got 'em to use up my free selections from BMG before it went away. They're fine I guess. Some good stuff but not in love. I do remember liking a lot of the songs from Midnight Vultures though. And that song "Deadweight" that was off some soundtrack.
