Big Bang's been renewed for seasons 3 and 4 which I was thrilled to hear.

They go out of their way to make sure all the science and nerdy stuff discussed are spot-on factually too. I was almost able to follow the comics discussions from last week.

and anyone who is entertained by King of the Hill should be barred from weighing in on what is in fact funny.

see, I know what you're talking about (I have shins). I've probably seen one or two episodes for every year it's been on, and I still don't recall even being entertained by it once.

I can attest to watching a lot of shitty animated comedy. I still watch the Simpsons, although it's been funny about 4 times in the last decade. Family Guy, while it consists of a barrage of non sequiturs aimed at dumb commercials and pop culture phenomena, still makes me laugh a couple times an episode. American Dad has even found a way to entertain me, as long as it's on in the background and I'm doing something else. I'll even watch South Park, though they get about one funny episode in per year at this point. Still, King of the Hill just hasn't grown on me at all. You can only use a propane joke so many times, and Brittany Murphy's voice makes me want to strangle children.

As far as the new shows go, I haven't seen a lot of them, and the ones I have seen I need to see more of. Most great shows start out crap, and then either they find their voice or the audience starts to figure out what's going on.

Ok, watched parks & rec. It's just like the office but less funny. Same camera work, same sound, same format...

I didn't think this was possible, but here we are.

Yeah after the third viewing of Parks & Recreation we've decided tonight it sucks mightily. And my husband uttered the words "I'm really angry at Amy Poehler for this."

I was trying to pinpoint the movie I remembered him from: George Washington. I like that guy.

I'm with Cotton. King of the Hill is a waste of time even in a medium created to be a waste of time.

I'm still gonna weigh in even though I'm no longer considered a source of what is or isn't funny or any of the other points I've been accused of not being a credible source on in the years I've wasted here.

Because why? Writing redneck morons is too easy?

I couldn't disagree more. King of the Hill may have jumped the shark like all sitcoms inevitably do but it had some quality years.

I find that series especially impressive after how Judge broke into the business.

I get the show, and sometimes I chuckle, but I never really find anything hilarious, or even "pretty funny." It's not like the jokes are missing me, it's just like it's more of a serious show than a comedy. I don't hate it, but I would rather watch allllmost anything else.

Watched the Goode Family last night. Typical Mike Judge humor.

I saw it, and it shows definite potential. Like King of the Hill, this looks to be one that focuses more on character development and deeper, layered humor - as opposed to the instant gratification of cheap sight gags and incessant pop culture references (see: Guy, Family). Not that one is funnier than the other, they're just different styles of funny.

that might be the crux of my issues with the show. If those guys are rednecks, then the suburban Philadelphia area I grew up in is redneck central. Dudes that are fanatical about lawn care and grilling and like to spend saturdays in a rec room drinking beer aren't rednecks, they're just normal. I think the show has many points on what a lot of typical Americans are like. Unfortunately, it's about as funny as watching a lot of typical Americans. Also, that niece character is actively trying to convince me to put a gun in my mouth.

I'm not so sure I think the show is terrible, I just think it isn't funny in a PAX Network sort of way.
