I just can't get enough of this band. Playing the hell out of their stuff, and ordered the EP & LP.

I know a few of you are familiar, but wanted to pass it along to everyone else as well, because damn, it's such a great debut album. I might go as far as saying the best debut release of 2009 (so far).

Check them out.

The xx are a London quartet, featuring the dual lead vocals of Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim (who also play lead guitar and bass guitar respectively), Baria Qureshi (keyboards and guitar) and Jamie Smith (beats, MPC sampler).

Bonding over a shared love of dark, emotive 80s guitar sounds and the high-end sheen of American R&B, The xx’s unique sound befits a band whose wide range of influences include everything from Aaliyah to Cocorosie, Rhianna to The Cure, Missy Elliott to The Chromatics
and Mariah Carey to The Pixies.

Cool, thanks for the new links Dale. Between this and Cornershop it's been a good month for new releases.

Thanks D.

Am I crazy or did I read on here somewhere that Rads wasn't totally opposed to this album?

Have we found the bridge between Dale and Rads?

Also, worst band to use the search function for this side of "The The" or "The Music".

yeah, he digs the album.

One more but that I've just recently found is this mix Jamie xx did for FACT. across the board really, but flows nicely, and keeps a nice balance of melody, funk, and atmosphere.

Download: FACT Mix 70 - The xx

It doesn't feel like we've already commissioned 70 exclusive FACT mixes, but today we have. And the latest comes from London dream-pop quartet The xx - one of the most exciting new bands to hit our radar this year.

Recently signed to Young Turks, Oliver, Romy, Jamie and Baria's debut album, XX, will be released next month, and we're pretty excited about it. Having recently toured with Micachu and The Big Pink, The xx peddle hazy, torch-lit pop that's full of space and natural rhythm, with hushed boy/girl vocals: cool detached pop, then, at its very coolest.

Mixed by Jamie, who produces as well as playing in the band, The xx's FACT mix features CocoRosie, Sticky and Ms Dynamite, Four Tet, Zomby, Burial and plenty of the band's songs alongside exclusive Jamie xx edits and solo material. It also makes for the perfect preparation for Field Day on Saturday August 1, where the band are playing alongside Fennesz, Mogwai, Skream and more. They've even changed the forecast to say it's not raining. Seriously.

Tracklisting:

Ytinifni - Jamie xx
Hot Like Fire (Jamie xx edit) - The xx
Sub Island - Skream
Wolf Cub - Fourtet/Burial
Test Me For A Reason - Zomby
Booo! - Sticky feat. Ms Dynamite
Blood Red Moon (Jamie xx Bootleg) - The xx
Raphael - CocoRosie
Young Rabbits - The Crusaders
Stardance - John Forde
Blindfolded - Theophilus London
Skips A Beat - Mayana
Heart Skipped A Beat - The xx
Basic Space (Jamie xx Space Bass Mix) - The xx

I've been liking XX, thanks D. Have you heard The Big Pink debut yet? Some decent moments on there. Some crap.
