Is this going to finish what Princeton started?

(One point loss to Georgetown in the '89 NCAA tourney.)

I think I should give MMJ another try based on the way people with similar tastes seem to be voting. In the meantime though ...Trail of Dead

Same here. If I have heard them, it didn't make much of an impression.

Just this MMJ album.

Maybe the one before it, I dunno. The split with Songs: Ohia is pretty good, too.

I think At Dawn is kinda boring in some spots...its not a GREAT record but a very good one.

that trail of dead is a fucking monster, I voted for that.

I am curious as to how this became MMJ's standard bearer around here, as I rate it 4th of the studio albums.

It Still Moves is my fave.

Trail of Dead starts strong, and gets meh from there.

For me at least, its a more consistent listen than It Still Moves or the last one which both vary wildly from awesome to meh.

It and Z are my two favorite MMJ records.

At Dawn and It Still Moves are the only MMJ albums that I've actually bought, and I like At Dawn so much better than ISM that it sort of baffles me how anyone could feel differently.

I did like Z from what little I listened to it, though.

I have to stand with Loog on this one. Despite my hatred of a couple of tracks, I think prefer Evil Urges to At Dawn.

There are six (6) songs on Evil Urges that I can't even listen to.

I thought the days of that album being stupendously overrated were an embarrassing episode of the past.

Guess not.

So basically half the album.

I like At Dawn but the 75 min run-time is a bit daunting.

Yeah, half the album. I wish it weren't so.

It Still Moves and At Dawn are long fucking albums. I suspect they were made under the auspices of the Patterson Hood Philosophy of "this may be the last album I get to make so I'm going to throw everything I've got on there and hope for the best"

This is a weird and perhaps wholly subjective observation but despite being barely 5 min shorter, At Dawn just feels much heavier and longer than It Still Moves. Like I barely want to grab for it because it's like a real investment of time and affect.
