The Daily Show has been weaving comedy gold out of the people who have been showing up to these meetings the last couple of nights.

No weaving required. That shit writes itself.

Actually, you are correct. There were no punchlines. They simply showed some of these people at various meetings followed by Stewarts reactions.

My favorite was the clip where a Repub was speaking at one and there were several people saying, "WE ARE AFRAID OF OBAMA!!!".

The clip from 2005 of Bill O'Reilly basically describing the actions of these protesters in reference to antiwar protesters was golg.

Also the best clip from all of these things is that woman in Arkansas crying. Boohoo.

Watching a live feed of a Town Hall with Sen. Spector with an angry room full of the brown shirts. A guy just said "all legislation should be written so middle school students understand it." Right... the Bible, airplane mechanic manuals, college chemistry textbooks, T.S. Eliot, and all laws... need to be edited down to People magazine comprehension.

Very interesting. Will Obama get this done... or will this last flare up of white 7th grade anger actually work? Fortunately I track birthrates... these guys need to get Latinos into their coven or their movement will wind up dead history... Mugwumps, Whigs, Know-Nothings...

Rep Bob Inglis (the cute and friendly Rightist) to teabaggers shouting him down: "When Glen Beck comes on, turn that television off." This is a gut check for the reasoned Right...

I had the Spector thing on too for a bit: Pretty impressive that he is standing so close to these savages (and this has nothing to do with ideology and more to do with all residents of Pennsylvania--savages) while they ask him questions or in some cases yell at him just inches from his face.

This quote from an anti-health reformer in Investor's Business daily was pretty funny...

People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the U.K., where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless.

Do I need to point out where Hawkings is from?

Don't even bother unless you've got the official birth certificate in your back pocket.

Obama's in Portsmouth today and my rightwing coworkers are all in a lather.

Whereas I just closed the newsroom door and turned up Radio Paradise.

Someone tell me how come so many former teenage pothead hippie dippies turned into such uber-right Ayn Rand-sucking lunkfuckers in their 40's?

I've been told that when I make more money, I'll understand (direct quote). So far I still don't understand though.

They have a deep seeded urge to belong to something. So it was either the route they took or chasing the Bug.

Well, that and the fact that their parents were subsidizing the hippie phase and now they are trying to make their own way in the world :)

there's always still france to bash:

anti-reformer: "name ONE medical innovation to come from france"

unprepared reformist: "um..."

here's three - guillaume de baillou: founder of modern epidemiology (swine flu, ahem), etienne lancereaux: first to link diabetes to the pancreas, jean benard: pioneered radiotherapy in the treatment of Hodgkins disease.

(that took ol' toots all of four and a half minutes to research)
