A transfusion for the leeches? Didn't know they require that much blood. I'm working in transfusion medicine right now...I'd still take the leeches. Transfusions aren't really something to worry about if you only get a few in your lifetime...I'm assuming you're past your leech window of opportunity though...

My understanding, keeping the tip is the hardest portion to re-attach due to the miniscule vessels in that area. If it was lopped more off the base of the finger the chance of saving the whole finger is actually higher as told by hand surgeon. Transfusion would only be necessary if infection occurred while doing a leech procedure, but due to its location infection is more likely..

I did this to my left index finger when I was in 11th grade. Stuck the tip right in an electric hedge trimmer. It wasn't cut off completely, but my dad said they had the tip bent back and were filing down the bone when I was in the emergency room (I didn't watch that shit). I still have my nail but the feeling at the tip is pretty bad.

It only take 48 hours to find out? I thought it would be longer.

The tip has decided to move on and let the remainder of my finger continue meddling in my affairs or rather my finger rejected the tip outrightly. No bone shaving will be necessary, but a crude recreated version of a finger will be masterfully attempted, something I'm a bit shaky on in regards to results. Thanks for the good vibes. No doubt I've scratched my head wondering what it'll be like looking at a newly misshapen hand let alone the use of it; surprisingly, friends and family are more freaked than I. I've seen worse and it could have been worse. I just want to get back to everyday. Seriously, thanks for the jokes, shared stories etc. I'm gonna save the tip to throw in Bloody Mary's or such [like the Sourtoe Cocktailhttp://www.chow.com/media/5286].

Oh wow...sorry to hear. But, you've now got a great story to tell!

My mom lost the top half of her pinky when she stuck her hand in one of those old-fashioned lawn mowers (the push kind) when she was 5 yrs old. People always asked her about it and she proudly told the story.
