Grace Jones: Hurricane

I just came across this album, her first in 19 years. It came out toward the end of last year. If you like Grace Jones, don't hesitate. She's not lost a step. Her voice still sounds great and she can still mix light reggae rhythms with ominous bass and menace to match her often cold, calculated vocals. Lots of collaborators, like usual suspects Sly & Robbie to new to the Grace Jones camp people like Brian Eno and Tricky. A bit of variety on this one with a couple laid back Caribbean tunes which almost come across as sentimental, but plenty of steel and thunder as well.

Worriedaboutsatan - Arrivals

Really digging this. 21st Century Downtempo/Dubstep/Post-Rock. Definitely "mood music".

Yeah, i'm pretty much blown away by this....the last track "Banker And A Liar", so so good.

“You played sapphire to the swine / with his chalices of wine / and his niece who wears your penis like a crown / All that power has escaped you, though you toiled all the day through / with the promise of a hummer and a pound/ and I don’t know what to do for you / I could draw you a picture of the world and a screw/ I could’ve loved you, but your dreams are on fire / and your prophet is a banker and a liar.â€
