Depends whose concern you are asking about. Sure, the concern should be over those problems and costs you mention. But, the crowds yelling and shouting at town halls and such? Nope, they are concerned about Obama and that loss of power that you are OK with accepting. I'm not saying they have a right to whine like babies and scream about their loss of privilege as the ability of old white guys to call all the shots diminishes. Just saying that yes indeed that is their concern, and they are mostly masking it with all these other issues where they release the anger.

JEEBUS, for one.

WHIGENESK, for another.

No need for corporate to fund Anti-Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit astroturf, since corporate was going to make all the money, anyway, for a third.

Exactly what I was thinking... But then, I remembered the "Obama is gay" rumour from the primary, into the general, election season, the supposed lover during the 90s who was going to be (willingly) splashed across STAR Magazine. & it made sense. The Obamas have an open marriage/Michelle's his beard is the new meme, now that my namesake has been proven the crank. & the kids, of course, Michelle's by somebody else, & given Barry's name to keep the cover.

& the real father -- you guessed it, Frank Stallone.

This was in my town. Too bad his face is obscured by the sign...I could've told you if I saw him at the Red Lobster or something.

This spectacle makes me so frustrated about this country. Idiotic, BS propaganda seems to be working. America is the only developed country without some form of government health care plan. What a sad club of 1.

so is marrying a foreign national the best way to benefit from another country's healthcare?

(provided the mail-order spouse comes from a country with so-shul medicine)

"Working" in what sense? Look, health care was never going to get passed before recess even without this nonsense. There were a lot of Dems who didn't/don't like what's been floating out there as this issue has taken flight so it's not like the mouth-breathing "Youth In Asia" crowd are really slowing things up any anyway.

Do we need something? Sure. But the something that's been put together to this point - which has been about as sturdily and thoughtfully constructed as an outhouse assembled on the wing of a Concorde flying at top speed - ain't anywhere close to what might maybe some day be good for the country.

So exhale. Chill out. This will still be out there when recess is over. The numbskulls will still be out there, too, but won't get 1/10 the attention since everyone will be back in Washington and able to work in something close to a civil environment. Until then, enjoy the show. I'll take these crackpots for laughs over an Apatow flick seven fucking days a week.

Yes. Also Howard Dean got it right last night when he said the Grassleys of this world are playing to their base for reelection purposes and have no intention to vote for passage of the final bill.

Provisions that have been "removed" in committee will be reintroduced on the floor and the final bill will contain things like end-of-life counseling reimbursement. Then Grassley can claim he did eveything he could to keep the murderous dems from their nazi death panels and whatnot, knowing it was all theater.

My problem is when I see enraged but dim rightwing relatives believing this crap and citing Palin's whack editorial as proof when Palin was so stupid she quoted Eugene Robinson from an article where Robinson specifically called her out for being stupid and a liar.

I can ignore the relatives most of the time but their facebook posts are a wonder to behold.

i've had some surprises on the FB friend front...

some girls who used to be hippies calling obama socialist, then a month later acting like health care reformers

and another guy, very much old-school christian, but who is like "hey lay off the president"

i, fortunately, haven't seen too much political flotsam on my home feed

I'm getting the relatives who are convinced that public option will be mandatory and they will be forced off their private insurance and then the government will decide what kind of care they can get.

Telling them "none of this is true, whatsoever" just makes them angrier. And now I'm anti-family and a blinded fool. despite the fact that my marriage is very sound, my kids happy and bright but the relatives have all been divorced several times and have crazy-ass offspring.

My wife says don't give in to fear that people I know may wind up advocating violence because that's their freaky cross to bear, not mine. They may be consumed by fear but I should not get caught up in the fear of fear. But you know, it's hard to get my head around how dense people can be who are being bold-faced lied at.
