Spoon to Tour North America in June
Chris Rediske reports:
So before you get all uppity about it, let us just say: We know we just reported Spoon tour dates last Friday. But here's the thing-- those shows, aside from one SXSW date (which already happened) and the Coachella date in April, are all taking place in Europe. Where you, most likely, are not. But you know Spoon loves the native North American-dweller just as much as the next deified indie rock band, which is why they're planning on spending their summer with you and you and you.

Yes, it's true-- Spoon will be marching quickly through the U.S. and Canada for the better part of June in support of their upcoming fifth full-length Gimme Fiction, hitting both coasts before ending up in their hometown of Austin. The Clientele will be along for the ride, and because we're cool like that, we've even reprinted the European dates from last week. Turn your camera on:

04-08 London, England - Brixton Academy *

So they're playing east up 'til I move east, then they're coming to LA. Sigh. They blew me away at ATP a few years ago, and I'm not even that big a fan of their recorded output.

James Brown, noted batterer, you say? Try and sneak in ... I love the get funky like anyone but I try not to give the guy money.

Now I will have 'Not Now James, We're Busy' stuck in my head all day and nothing to be done for it.

Yes, Baltimore, June. Woo-hoo! Shall we have an east coast meeting?

i'll go just to kick his ass. actually i'm sure the it's too pricey for my budget to handle at this point. damn kids. why must they eat?

we should do a major east coast thing. we need one of our resident camp activities counselor's to set one up. i suck at it. too bad ft doesn't live around here.

Perhaps it could be a valuable lesson for the munchkins: how to sneak into gigs. After you could hit the ramen noodles and they'll be so filled with euphoria that they won't notice that dinner cost thirty cents.

Edit: I too nominate someone else to organise an east coast thingy.
