Just watched this documentary about the two bands on Hulu. Awesome watch. Really sad in a way.

Great music and the relationship between the bands and especially Courtney and Anton is fascinating.

There's probably an old thread about this somewhere...

Highly entertaining and the spawn of a ton of unintentioanl comedy.

Ol' Anton.

I'm not sure which i found more interesting - Antons delusion about how amazing he is, or the fact that the dandy warhols dudes agreed with him! A very fascinating documentary about egos, i should watch it again. Thanks for the heads up.

I think Anton is the sanest person in film. He knew exactly what he was doing. He just miscalculated how far to take it and went just a little too far.

BJM sounds like they're too lazy to invest the time to make a good record.

Have you heard the early ones? I'm not as much into the more shoegazey albums but Take It From the Man is a modern classic. The Bringing It All Back Home Again EP is probably the best Stones ripoff I can think of. Many of their others -- Bravery, Repetition and Noise and Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request especially -- are also very good.

he sabotages himself and his band at every opportunity, and seems to think the world owes him something. That doesn't seem very sane.

I could probably stand to watch that again.

Did anyone else see that the Dandys rereleased Welcome To The Monkey House? I guess it wasn't to their liking the first time around? Didn't even know they were still together.

The only opportunities he had existed because of his personality. Whether you like BJM or not, I don't think any of us would really think they had the sound condusive to major labels or even big indie labels. BJM rose way above that because Anton was a trainwreck that everyone stops to see. Anton knew this and created a character, and I think his wink comes across in DIG. He just took the act too far and squandered all the notoriety he built.

There are definitely some good moments on those albums but I'm not sure I would call any of it (including Take It From The Man) a classic.

The Dandy Warhols on the other hand are terrible.

I'm listening to Come Down right now. Haven't listened to it in 10 years at least. Remembered it being a lot better than it is right now. Too bad.

You've even heard the EP? Seems like something you "reg rock" guys would be all over (although I saw you posted in the XX thread so I can be sure of anything these days).

But yeah, the Dandy Warhols are absolutely awful.

I haven't heard the EP (I have Take It From The Man!, Thank God For Mental Illness and Satanic Majesties) but I might effort checking it out.

As for the XX all I posted was that I would check it out so slow your roll on grouping me with those people...or those other people for that matter.
