I'm pretty sure this disqualifies me from being a coffee "snob" but for my daily needs, Folgers Black Silk is where it's at. Usually can get one of these huge canisters on sale for about $6 and it lasts a couple months. Plus, it tastes as good as about any other coffee I can think of.

When I go out for coffee, my local favorite is Lazy Daze because it's the closest non-Starbucks/fast food/gas station option: http://www.lazydazecoffeehouse.com/

Bustelo is decidedly awesome.

but watch out - they have a hipster calling!
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/26/fashi ... stelo.html

INDIO, Calif.

OUTSIDE a small ranch house in the Southern California desert on April 19, one of the satellite parties of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was reaching its midafternoon peak. The D.J. blared Lil Jon into the open air, the V.I.P.’s escaped the baking sun for shade, and the girls by the pool giggled as they tossed around a bright yellow beach ball marked with the logo for one of the party’s sponsors.

But unlike most of the 18 other brands on display here (Imeem, Vitaminwater) this one stood out: Café Bustelo, the old Cuban-style espresso. Around the pool, its retro-kitsch symbol was everywhere: on the empty cans of Bustelo Cool littering every table; on the burlap gift bags stamped with “I ♥ Café Busteloâ€

Mud is quality stuff.

Lamill Coffee is by far the best i've ever tasted though, especially Black Velvet and the Organic Lamill Espresso.

I usually get a huge bag of Millstone whole bean from Sam's. As long as I can grind it right before brewing, I'm usually happy.

Thankfully, they sell Intelligentsia at the convenience store downstairs at our office.

why is it considered snobbish if you enjoy quality?

that Seattle's Best isn't too bad actually.

They have this at Costco - worth trying?

I buy the Costco house blend, Roasted by Starbucks. 8.99 for 2 lbs. It brews up dark, and fucking strong, which is all I care about. I hate weak coffee and really hate coffee that doesn't kick you in the mouth with taste.

I was replying to the OP . But to me, a 'snob' is one who does not allow for the fact that the perception of taste/flavor is highly individualistic. That is, who thinks 'quality' = 'what I like'.

Cafe Bustelo, Pilon, and La Llave rule the aisles and window cafes here in South FL. 1$ for a colada = a double shot.

Thats why Im drinking it now. Its fine for me. But again, I dont really spend much time thinking about the qualities of coffee unless I am drinking something that just evokes an immediate response- good or bad.

Cool, I will check it out. I can, and do, drink espresso 4 shots at a time, ala a cup of coffee.

I buy the italian blend from a local coffee shop that roasts their own beans. It delicious and cheap and right by the law school. Best of all possible worlds.

That's what Intelligentsia used to be before they exploded. I used to go there while they were roasting (in the middle of the store. The coffee was so good, that it was almost wrong. It's still good, but not quite as good since they expanded their operation.

Most days it's Eight O Clock French Roast or whatever bold beans I can find for cheap in bulk because I go through a fair amount of it.

I do enjoy the local brewery's stuff, Magnum Coffee.
