Has anybody here ever used a travel agent? I'm thinking of using one and I'm not excited to blindly pick one out of the yellow pages? Got any tips on finding one?

This is kinda cool...

A friend of ours works at MIT, and saw some guys testing these electric motorcycles outside her office a few days ago. So they let her try it out. At low speeds the wheels come together to be on the same axis, and it self-balances like a segway. Then at higher speeds, they separate to feel more like a normal bike. I'm always surprised to see what MIT kids are working on (the guy who came up with this is 19.)

I told her she should've called me to test-pilot it.

Yeah when I saw the picture, the story made more sense.

If you're thinking of buying a SAAB, don't.

I have to replace a vacuum hose and brake booster. I talked my shop into rolling the labor into one job (they had to order/install a new vacuum hose, then test the booster, so technically two different jobs), so that took the job from being over $1k down to $940. I then told them to find a trusted used parts supplier and they did, in Atlanta, so the total job is cut to $775. I spent close to $5k on repairs + new brakes + tires in the last year that included new struts, a re-machined head gasket, power steering pump, serpentine belt tensioner, idler pulley, etc.

I think back on how badly I could use that money now and it makes my stomach turn.

he was probably going for that, but got caught after his first move: "sucking blood from a wound on his hand and spitting it at the officer".

I think every single aspect (except for the rescue) of this 18-year kidnapping case pisses me off, too.

You know, I don't even think John Walsh imagined the possibility of dudes like this and the Austrian guy...the multiple children in seclusion thing...WTF?
