Noel Gallagher has announced he is quitting rock band Oasis because he can no longer work with his brother Liam.

Noel, the founding member of the band, made the statement on the band's website. He said a series of rows with his brother led to the decision.

The guitarist said: "It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight.

"People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."

"Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan," he added.

Earlier it was announced the band had cancelled their second gig in the space of a week because of "an altercation within the band".

They had been expected to play the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, but fans at the concert were told by the support band that Oasis would not be performing.

Many of the crowd thought it was a joke - until screens at either side of the stage showed the message "as a result of an altercation within the band, the Oasis gig has been cancelled".

So wait, is this the original Gallagher that smashed watermelons, or his imposter brother that was sued by the original? I get them mixed up and they all look like David Crosby.

Liam has had sore throat before and refused to perform at some MTV thing in the past.

I think Oasis quit Oasis a long time ago.

They be back together by a year from today. Mark my words.

From the article I read, Liam broke one of Noel's guitars before he quit. This probably should have happened a decade ago, but I too can see them getting back together again. I'd be interested in hearing a Noel solo album, since I haven't minded some of his collaboration work outside Oasis.

As Noel said on the unplugged episode many years back, the 2nd record would've been his first solo record. He's a talented musician. I think he might put out some decent stuff, but it'll probably fall on deaf ears around here. One of my college roommates is a diehard Oasis fan. He even went to Wembley this year to see them. I've heard more than my share of Oasis, and they aren't terrible, and their first 2 records are definitely 90s staples.
