At this point, I want the Death Panels. I can think of a whole lot of PNB -- or, at least, clueless mouth-breathers -- that we need to put before it.

Luckily for me, I have not seen this yet on my FB page.
All my friends see my political links and most likely avoid confrontation on this issue. If they were really that hardcore against health care reform and Obama, they'd defriend me before posting that stuff.

Also, I was surprised that the Nebraska Democratic Party and the health care reform people I work with have larger booths at the State Fair than the Teabaggers, anti-Obamacare and Nebraska GOP do.

Also, when he went aboard right after Obama flew out here to Boston, the cleaning staff was aggressively scrubbing the floor in one spot. Turns out one of the girls got to bring a friend, and the friend accidentally spilled salsa all over the carpet of AF1. OOPSG.

Assuredly, though I have a hunch that during the early Clinton years far worse things were ground into that carpet.

my facebook ticker has not been immune for quite some time

here's a little gem that popped up from the guy that sits behind me

First, how many people can afford to take a pay cut in every paycheck to support national health care? Second, how many people would spend more money in our economy if they took a pay cut? Third, relating my first two questions together, how will n...ational health care affect our economy and number of available jobs?

if you feel like answering it i'll write you a little ditty

Why the ellipsis after the initial n in 'national'? Did ol' boy call Obama niggardly, or something?

This sounds like cognitive dissonance to me

I'm "debating" with one of my more conservative "friends" on Facebook about healthcare. He's a big Mark Levin fan ("Liberty & Tyranny"), so in other words, he thinks all liberals are Statists. He can't stand Obama (of course). I know it's a waste of his & my time, but sometimes I just can't help myself.

Anyway, in these posts between us, he makes the claim that ALL poor people are covered by Medicaid already. I point out that approximately 60% of people classified as "poor" are NOT covered by Medicaid because they make too much money (the working poor). He then comes back with a post that actually argues FOR the public option. How can you argue against healthcare reform if you don't even know what it is? From his post, I'm sure he is talking about "single-payer" instead of "public option".

Here's what he posted:

Quote:
"Medicaid recipients CAN see anyone they want unless the doctor doesn't accept Medicaid patients, which I don't know of any, at least around here. Those who work should pay for a plan on their own, not the taxpayers. There should be a more affordable plan that covers the basics, but these folks should be paying a premium for it like the rest of us. I don't understand why our lawmakers feel it is their duty to cover everyone with tax dollars. This is a Stateist view, and history proves Stateist views don't compare with capitalist ideals and their success. There are going to be those that we just can't cover, and as unfortunate as it is, it's okay. That's how capitalism works. Those in unfortunate circumstances have the freedom to improve themselves if they will apply themselves. It should be a shame, like it was 30 years ago, to be a welfare recipient, a food stamp recipient, etc. getting govt. help. Not today. Everyone thinks the government should take care of them."

Fun times!!! I haven't responded to him because I don't have access to Facebook at work, but I already know most of what I'm going to write. Anybody want to help me by telling me what you'd write? I'm trying to make it the last post on the subject, so I don't continue "arguing with a dining room table." ;-)

.... the government SHOULD take care of everyone. Literally. "Take care of." As in, provide for the basic well-being and physical health care of all its citizens. It's one of the very few things that a central government can and should do. That's not heresy, it's common fucking sense. Keep me from getting invaded, and provide me with healthcare.

guys healthcare is like SOOOOO last week. Now we're talking about Obama indoctrinating our children with an "optional" speech to students.

Luckily, most of my conservative friends aren't THAT insane (a few, but not enough to even concern myself with).

But, they're right, how DARE Obama try to talk to kids about the importance of education. What a Marxist... ;-)

Obama should come out to say that its unamerican to pour gasoline on yourself and light a match. The resulting Glen Beck show would be priceless.

I would be interesting in seeing the percentage of people opposed to the Obama Youth speech homeschool their precious little furry handed, cross-eyed darlings.

from my facebook, in response to kristoff's latest op/ed in the nyt (ugh in advance) ...

[Obama hater] medicare is going bankrupt... our public school systems are crap, everyone knows ssn won't be there for most young working people when they retire... its proven that most welfare programs do more harm than good... there isn't a person in america that would disagree that whenever the government does something there is a ton of wasteful spending at every level... maybe we will all learn after the next depression
Yesterday at 5:58pm · Delete

[Zach (Saint)] you have no concerns about losing your job and not being able to afford health insurance? no concern about the wasteful spending in private health insurance? about pre-existing condition exclusions? about losing your plan when you get sick?
Yesterday at 6:18pm · Delete

[Obama hater] is having a job a "right" too? is having food on your table a "right"? maybe we will soon have only government jobs and grocery stores will be owned by the feds too and they can tell you what you get to eat every day. i know that is far fetched... We already have a system in place for people that are unemployed, we have medicaid for the poor and misfortunate... nobody in THIS country goes without medical care if they need it and we even give medical care to people that are not citizens of this country....

I truly have no concern about the less fortunate in this country because even our poorest of poor are better off than many in the world. i have been to somalia and passed out food to people that are truly "poor" and i have been to south america where the people on the street have no limbs and get no government help in a socialist country.

god bless america!!!
p.s. sorry for my rant =P
