NOLA Blonde Ale

I really liked this beer a lot. It's the first time I've had a NOLA beer, and it exceeded my expectations. Nothing crazy. Just honest beer.

What did you this of those Lips of Faith? Besides La Folie, I can't stand any of them. Probably just not my thing.

Just got these in from Alaska!

so far i've only tried the biere de mars, and thought it was ok. nothing spectacular, but i'd have it again. a bit of a citrusy flavor, so i think it may go better with warmer weather and/or food.

This weekend, I had a bottle of this:

And of this:

What'd you think of the Dirty Bastard? I had a sixer of it about 3 years ago and liked it a lot. It was almost too sweet for a scotch ale if I recall, but it packed a wallop.

I've been lazy... recent beers:

Belhaven Wee Heavy
I always have a soft spot for these guys. I love their St Andrews. This was good, but not terribly exciting. They're always so incredibly... understated. Like they're afraid to have too much flavor for fear of being out of character.
Image

Legacy - Hoptimus Prime
I had this the night my wife went into labor. Not as hoppy as others in this category, but I think the content was like 10% or damn close, which IS a nice surprise. Still it's certainly pretty hoppy, and I'm sure Busty would enjoy it, but it wouldn't displace Pliny The Elder or Hopalicious or Hopslam or any other of the hop pun named beers.
Image

Golden Carolus - Tripel
Sharp, spicey, belgian, lots of alcohol, predictably good, not a stand-out, especially at $2 more a bottle than some others.
Image

Some beer from Pretty Things, out in Western Mass (Ayahland)
I think it was a belgian, and it was interesting, definately doesn't taste like anybody else, but I don't recall loving it. Good but not great, perhaps. Always have great labels though.
Image

Allagash - Tripel Reserve
Great belgian beer from Maine. Also sharp and spicey like the other Tripel, but a little more rounded and likeable. I dug this, but it doesn't displace the Bargain of Belgians, Caracole, which at my local store is like $7.95 a bottle vs. $10-$14 for the other true begians.
Image

And then right now in the fridge:

'Nother one of these guys, because I recall liking it a lot last time...
Image

And the only 12 Variety Pack they sell here with no duds, the always excellent Smuttynose.

The power of suggestion, Todd...

It's really damn good, but I still like Lake Louie better.

Now you're in my wheelhouse (and my neck of the woods). That Dragon's Milk is great. So tasty that I learned the hard way that too much of a good thing doesn't pay.

I like the Dirty Bastard too, but it's not one that is good enough that I keep coming back to it.

What's the Dragon's Milk like? I've seen it around. We've made eyes at each other but nothing's happened yet.

Oak aged ale with a strong flavor, and around 10% alcohol content. I like it because it has such a strong flavor, but it's still fairly smooth. It's definitely not for everyone.

You can find it in bombers or the newly bottled 12oz. 12oz is about all I can take of this one.

Just got back from the bar where I enjoyed two goblets of Lost Abbey's Bourbon Angel's Share and a pint of FFF Arctic Panzer Wolf. What a night!
